this would be the perfect tv in my room for my ps3 but can it have cable tv used in it?

why would you want a monitor when you could get a bigger tv for less?

Are you using it for your PC also? If not, stick with a normal TV...a 50" DLP set can be had for $800 and it is full 1080 P.
