i am after going and buying a ps3 and a new LG monitor which will do 720p hd

anyway i cant set it up. I have power to both ps3 and monitor and the hdmi lead running between the two aswell. all leads are in the right position. however when i turn on my monitor and set to hdmi mode i get no picture. the only settings on my monitor is to swap between dvi and hdmi modes so i cant change the picture yet which is balls. I have no idea what to do. I work on it for ages last night and checked the online manual millions of times but I still have nothing. I tried that trick where you hold the power till the second beep but still nothing.

I dont think the monitor is faulty as it hasnt been used and looks in perfect condition. the ps3 and hdmi lead definitely work as i hooked them up to a my dads tv last night. I anyone has the answer i owe you a pint. cheers thanks

IS your monitor HDCP compliant?

If is not, you will get no picture.

You may have gotten a defective moniter or it may not be configured correctly. You may want to call tech support for LG and they may be able to help you out.

you don't use the HDMI cable first

1) plug the composite (the cable in the box) to the PS3 and TV (unplug the HDMI from your PS3 but not from your TV)

2) go to the channel corresponding to the composite cable

3) you now have access to the XMB (cross media bar) that is your navigating system

4) go in parameters, choose display settings, choose current output settings (not sure about english names, I'm French)

5) you'll have several steps to choose, and after each choice, go right with your Sixaxis

6) check all the definitions your TV is capable of (4801, 480p, 576p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p if available)

7) choose HDMI as cable

8 ) you have 30 seconds to plug your HDMI cable in your PS3 and change your TV channel and accept, or you'll go back to the default (the composite cable/channel)

9) you should be OK now
