First of all the ACOG M40 is a glitch sniper that OHKO's anyone that doesn't have juggernaut. Why would they put that unstable sniper back in the game unless they fixed that glitch. M40 does base 70 damage ratewithout ACOG. With ACOG it does 105 damage rate
all i know is they better have dead silence as a perk still and the "legacy" control option. if either one of those arent in the game im gonna be very sad.
They don't have Dead Silence in the game anymore. There was a video on Youtube yesterday showing everything single perk and weapon in Modern Warfare 2's multiplayer and it was pretty disappointing. Less perks, terrible weapon balance and the deathstreaks make me cringe. As for TC, no the M40 is not in the game. There's like only one bolt-action sniper in the game I think.all i know is they better have dead silence as a perk still and the "legacy" control option. if either one of those arent in the game im gonna be very sad.

wow, this might sound stupid to some, but not having dead silence in the game drops my hype for it big time. im still getting the game, but this is a huge disappointment. the main thing i was looking forward to is the multiplayer, and i use dead silence in every single class in cod4. its easily my favorite perk in the game. i use it with my surround sound so i can hear nearby enemies and tell exactly where theyre coming from, and ive gotten so used to it that it feels very odd when i dont use the perk. you've just ruined the thing i was looking most forward to :(

Well then crouch down and move around. That nullifies sound too.

its very annoying having to move at half the speed you normally do. im very aware that crouching silences footsteps.
after waching the youtube video. im wondering what the lightweight pro perk unlocks. i know that lightweight makes you run faster, but im hoping that once you unlock lightweight pro, it will make your steps lighter meaning less noise like dead silence. please let that be the case.
and anyone know what the ninja perk does?

I agree 100%. Dead Silence was also my favorite perk, I'd never go into a game without it until I realized how dumb the COD4 community was and I realized there was no point in using a perk that people don't even know what it's countering. I also enjoyed Sonic Boom:PDead silence was a cool perk but by no means the best. In big firefights the dead silence means nothing, because everyone stopped listening for footsepts and started looking for the red dots. It's only really useful for the UAV jammer type, dead silence is just really useless for a run and gunner with probably bandolier and stopping power, i always hated seeing people with that build.
Oh and really sonic boom. An extra 10% to explosives. That's basically useless, if you use an RPG i can kill you quicker. I use slight of hand, so if you don't kill me with one i will have gotten off 2 before you reload, so boom your dead. I can see how it would be effective on something like Wetworks were people lob 3 frags from the get go. But most of the time i only wish for sonic boom after i relise that my grenade almost killed him but not quite then i get an unsatisfying +2 on my screen.
Well, sorry if I offended you Mr. Elite COD4 gamer. Forgive me if I decide to mess around with perks and weapons in this boring and connection = skill based game.Dead silence was a cool perk but by no means the best. As for Dead Silence, that is why you sneak around and use sound to your advantage. No one who puts Dead Silence on a class has the intention of going into big firefights.

Well thanks for the compliment. Your obvious sarcasm means nothing to me. I just voiced my opinion the the Dead Silence perk, even said it was usefull, just to a silence based class. But far to often i see people running around with dead silence in something like a headquarters and it's just stupid. I mean come on put deep impact or steady aim on that thing.

Well there's "those" people:PI can definitely see the use of Dead Silence in such a game type though it'd be much more critical in SnD or Free for All. Right now though I can forgive anyone who uses stupid or useless perks. MW2 is a week away and people really don't care about COD4 anymore.

well i mostly just played free for all, team deathmatch, or SnD, and hardcore deathmatches. dead silence worked great for all of these. even on matches like headquarters with small teams i used it very effectively. after you use it long enough you get really good at hearing footsteps and immediately knowing where theyre coming from. so you can really get a great jump on people if you use it right. in my opinion, it was the best perk in the game for me, and like i already stated, im pretty upset its not gonna be in MW2, unless that lightweight pro perk is it.
also, running into the middle of big firefights is just stupid no matter what perks you use, so yeah i try not to do that as much as possible. and i was a run and gunner most all of the time, and dead silence helped me out big time.

Well then go you. I only use Dead Silence in a combo with UAV Jammer. TDM-yeah i can see the use, especially for snipers who will never hear it coming. SND, probably the most use full here, being the last guy alive and the enemy can hear you just sucks. HTDM- with limited health and almost all one shot kills, anything to keep you off the radar helps. You said small scale headquarters, like Team Tac HQ, which is ok, with three people not many major gunfights will ensue so sneaking will usually work.
I might have been to harsh to judge based on the actions of the people who run around in large scale fights with that perk, because most of the time i just play HQ, and it is annoying to see a perk wasted like that when it can be used better in a different game mode.
Just found out for those that love dead silence. The "Ninja" perk when leveled to pro+ allows the person to move silently, so essentially dead silence, while being invisible to heartbeat monitors.
