Pokemon-like Games?

are there any psp games out there that resemble pokemon?

also, are there any VERY good rpgs that arent crisis core?

Closest game that is along the lines of Pokemon, is Monster Kingdom Jewel Summoner. I personally thought it was a great game. The story was entertaining, plenty of customization and evolving of your monsters, and the battling was fun. It might be a bit difficult to find. I ended up buying from Atlus directly, it was the best price I could find. They ship it very fast too, paid nothing extra and it arrived within 3 days.

Great Rpgs other than Crisis Core include: Tales of Eternia (action rpgs); Final Fantasy Tactics, Diseaga, Jeanne Darc (all startegy rpgs); Valkyrie Profile Lenneth and Brave Story (both turn based rpgs)

Ones comming out in the future include Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep and Star Ocean 1 and 2

i checked the JAPAN psn and... i dont read ***...a knees

but going by the images i dont think they have it either (but they do have boat loads more games than the US)

Monster Kingdom Jewel Summoner is exactly like pokemon except it has a good storyline, more mature, and your monsters actually move.

Your monsters level, gain skills, evolve etc. You catch monsters too.

Jewel Summoner Monster Kingdom is the one which resembles Pokemon closest, tho imo I think it's rather bland and generic, not highly recommendable. If your looking for some good RPGs other than Crisis Core. I'l suggest Disgaea ~ Riviera ( provided u havent played the GBA version ) ~ Jeanne D'Arc ( Personally I prefer Disgaea over Jeanne ) ~ Justice League Heroes ( Hack n Slash / RPG / Adventure - surprisingly awesome. Check out my review. ). :)

If u prefer something like Diablo aka Hack n Slash. Try Dungeon Siege Throne of Agony or Untold Legends Warrior's Code. Graphics and Stability - UL > DS. Story and Gameplay - DS > UL. Ur choice. ;)

U can consider Valkyrie Profile or Marvel Ultimate Alliance but those arent particularly to my liking. VP has a great story but both VP and MUA has dated graphics and MUA has some framerate issues. If ur into comic superheroes I highly recommend Justice League Heroes over MUA / X-Men ROtO. FF Tactics is great in terms of gameplay and whatnot but the graphics are dated. Disgaea > FF Tactics imo. :D

U can check out Monster Hunter tho. But its gonna appeal only to hardcore gamers. Tales of Eternia and Tales of the World are actually quite vibrant in nature and has tons of things to do but ... its kinda generic and unless ur a total fan of the series, try to get the games stated above first. *bottomline* Get Disgaea !! ( Fantastic SRPG ) / Justice League Heroes.

If you had a DS and wanted to play Pokemon wouldn't you just buy a Pokemon game?
