Is anybody else disgusted by the fact that there are next to no good PSN games, PS classic games, PS3 game content, and there's no downloadable music or movies? How much longer until we get this stuff. Thankfully the PSP is coming out with a music/movie/demo store later this fall (I'll probably get a PSP because of it) but there isn't anything for the PSN.

I really think that Sony should cut some deals with the developers of some of the best PS games (like Square Enix, among others) and get them to release their original PS games on the PSN.

Also, they need to release some decent PSN games. I mean, look at the Xbox Live Arcade! They've got tons of games and better classic Arcade games. I mean, what the heck is Championship Sprint!? Come on, Sony! The only games we've got worth the money are Calling all Cars! and maybeSuper Stardust HD.

Also, they've not released enough OFFLINE game content. How about some episodic content for Resistance to lead up to the sequel? Maybe Bethesda could start releasing their content and expansion packfor Oblvion on the PS3, as most people are ready for it. The game has been out for four months now and people would like something big to do. The only downloadable game content that we've gotten has been for two games that nobody cares about (Sonic the Hedgehog and Genji), Motorstorm, and Resistance. Motorstorm's time attack is free, but not really that exciting and Resistance's map pack is only worth the buy by people that really like Resistance's online play.

Finally, they need to offer music and movie downloads.Xbox Livehastons of downloadable movies available for "rental" (kind of a dumb idea; why would you want to "rent" a file?) and they don't even own a movie studio! Sony shouldstart taking a path with the PS3 store that they're taking with the PSP and offer downloadable HD movies and music for people to own, not rent (the content would be DRM controlled, of course). They own a music production and movie production company. They should be able to get all of those songs and movies up there. They could also startconvincing other music and movie production companies to release content on both of their stores.

Anyway, Sony, I hope you:

1) Get some good PS classics on the Playstation Store.

2) Have that new Santa Monica studio pump out some good downloadable titles.

3) Release downloadable content for games people actually care about and to a wider audience.

4) Get all of your movies and music available for download and allow your customers to own these products rather than "renting" them.

P.S. Maybe I should make a blog post about this. Instead of ranting, I could write about all the benefits of downloadable content. Hm... maybe tomorrow.

EDIT: I've acknowledge the following.

1) Sony has delivered in the demo department, but that's not what most consumers actually want. They want a full product on the store, not an advertisement. I don't like demos, most of them feel like they aren't the full game. I want them to deliver some full games on the Store that complete themselves.

2) Yes, more content will come and eventually all of these problems will be solved. However, we should've had some of this content already, if not on day one.

No I am not disgusted by any stretch of the imagination. They are in infancy right now. I would like for everyone to be judged by the same standards they set for the PS3 and everything related to it.

Would you like some cheese to go with that whine? :D

No I'm not disgusted. I guess I'm not too worried about it. I play my PS3 plenty, and while I'd love to see more content added, I don't feel like I'm missing out on much.

nope i like the way it is progressing. theres plenty of fun psn arcade games (rub a dub, flow, startdust, go puzzle, calling all cars, etc) and some great ps1 games(crash bandicoot, medieval, and jetmoto to name a few). And I am pretty sure for the music and movies they announced it before microsoft ever did, but we have to wait until home comes out.

Funny how you made this thread when they haven't even updated it yet today. We could get a Heavenly Sword demo and Lair. Just wait a couple more hours. If we even get one of those demos I'll be happy.

They've had nearly eight months now, though! I can understand not having full-games on Blu-Ray yet, but a complete lack of PS classics? That's completely unacceptable! I mean, how hard can it be to get permission to make it available for download and thenport it to work with PS3 hardware? It just doesn't make sense to me. Look at Nintendo's Virtual Console. They've got Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, and not to mention COUNTLESS SNES and NES titles. They all of this without a hard drive!Half of theWii owners probably don't even know that they can get classic Nintendo games online and the Virtual Console is still destroying our crap job of offering PS Classics. Yes, I can understand a current slump of PS3 games and I forgive Sony because this fall line-up is going to be awesome, but the fact that Sony has onlyreleased one or two "good" PS Classic games is pathetic.

I'm sorry but you are judging the store before it becomes what it needs to be. The store has been online for how many months now? It's been out for less time than the PS3 and it's only been out 7 months. Cut it some slack man. I get all the content I need. I'm sorry if they don't have hundreds of episodes of shows from Comedy Central but you know what... stopped watching that channel when I turned 16... it's boring. Now, if Sony put up some downloadable music for under a buck. I'd be interested. But lets all wait and see what happens to the store in the next 5 months.

I don't want demos! I want actual games! Demos are okay, but I'd prefer some actual games. Yes, Sony's doing great with demos and I didn't complain about that. The fact that they're missing everything else that should be expected is definitely a show of laziness. LAIR is the demo I've been waiting for, but this fall,I want some smaller games for download that I can enjoy. I'm usually very busy with school and don't have enough time to fill all of my gaming needs, so I'd like to get some quick satisfaction out of the exciting concept of "casual games" for the PSN. No PSN games have yet come out that have interested me. I got fl0w, but I kind of regret it, sort of fun, but that fun quickly wore off. Yes, I know there are a couple good games (only good) on the PSN, but neither interest me and I want that "killer-ap" per say for the PSN.

They should've had this sort of content available since day one! Not new PSN games, or course, but they should've had a much wider selection and a larger libraryof PS titles, music, and movies. How hard can it be to get the license for thesethings? They owned plenty of first-party games and they own a lot of music and movie studios. If they really wanted the PS3 to sell more in its early months, they should've had this stuff available immediately.

Chill out. Give it some time. You can't forget Sony's got the "Home" thing under works too. They're workin' on their major titles, n helpin' devlopers learn how to make games faster for the PS3, and don't forget, learn how to push the machine to its limits. Give it time.

Home is completely irrelevant to what I'm talking about. I also already stated that I'm happy with the PS3 titles being released on Blu-Ray. What I'm saying is that they should have enough staff or should be able to hire enough staff to move this content that's already been created to the Playstation Store, i.e. PS games, movies, and music. Also, the fact that there aren't any brain-dead casual mini-games being released on the Playstation Store is going to tick off a lot of (good)students when it comes to this fall and all they have time for are these casual brain-dead mini-games that Sonyis not releasing enough of in good enough quality.

How would you feel if you, say, wrote a book or something and then somebody copied it and gave it out for free? You wouldn't be very happy. You see, we live in a world where people like to get credit for what they've done. Now you, you may not do anything for a living so somebody stealing your living doesn't matter much to you. However, if you lost a job because somebody stole from you, you wouldn't be a very happy camper. Also, what is this about being on my "high horse"? So now respecting the artist by paying for their work is being snooty? God, sometimes I hate the internet.

well if i wrote the book and released it 15 years ago and made millions off of it already, and not only that, but it is out of print like most of the nes/snes games are out of production than no, i wouldnt care. and the high horse comment was aimed at your morals statement. its like saying that nobody who has emulators or roms has morals. i bought these games years ago and i have the rights to download them as i please imo.

its the developers!!!!! go whin e to them and not sony. heres a picture ive wantd to post for a long time now even though it may or may not work in this situation.More Pics @ MySpaceAntics.com

Sony isn't pushing the development of these PSN games enough. It's their fault that they hadn't taken the initiative to staff the proper people for their first party developer formaking these downloadable games BEFORE the PS3 was released or at leasthave opened those Santa Monica studios earlier. That way, we'd have some half-way decent games up there now. Also, it's not so much that we don't have these downloadable games out yet. It's that we don't have any PS1games, movies, or music yet. That's what surprises me. It doesn't sound like it should be that hard to get that content up there to me, especially since Sony owns a considerable part of the music and movie industry.

Look at XBL! They had tons of content in the same time frame that the PS3 has had. In eight months, they had plenty to offer while the PS3 still fails to deliver. I've given Sony plenty of time. How long can it take to produce one of these casual mini-games? I'm not upset about Sony's retail games. I know they take time. The point is they should have music, they should have movies, they should have some decentPS1 games, and they should havesome decentPS3 downloadable games by now.

[QUOTE="GKinnel"]Chill out. Give it some time. You can't forget Sony's got the "Home" thing under works too. They're workin' on their major titles, n helpin' devlopers learn how to make games faster for the PS3, and don't forget, learn how to push the machine to its limits. Give it time.dewmandew7

Also, the fact that there aren't any brain-dead casual mini-games being released on the Playstation Store is going to tick off a lot of (good) students when it comes to this fall and all they have time for are these casual brain-dead mini-games that Sony is not releasing enough of in good enough quality.

Just because you are seeing this kind of content out of the other systems doesn't mean it's an expected for the PSN store. Get over yourself. This whole tread is about how you aren't pleased, a bunch of us are. I enjoy the store and I like the fact that there isn't a bunch of useless items on there that I don't even want to look at. They are releasing content as fast as they can come up with it. The system is about playing beyond not waiting around for the newest releases of games from the last 10 years. I want new stuff. They have given me new stuff.

There already is a bunch of useless items on there that nobody wants to look at, as I've been ranting about for the entire post, and not enough good ones. Also, that wouldn't be a problem if the Store was better organized, but that's a completely different rant and don't get me started on that. Sony's doing some great things with their retail content, but even Nintendo is killing them in the online content portion. Also, the only reason that I want the original PS1 games is because there are a ton of RPGs that are supposed to be amazing that I haven't gotten to try yet, such as Final Fantasy VII. Playing the arcade games are fun, too. Actually, I've already downloaded the original arcade Gauntlet II and Rampage games, but they were kind of ruined when they didn't let you save how far you've gotten in the game and they were two of the measly three games worth playing on there (Mortal Kombat II is supposedly good; I'm not interested). However, they're great party games and that's why I love them. I'm sorry, but I cannot agree with you when you say that there aren't a bunch of useless items on there that nobody wants to look at. There are, and that's the problem. Sony's initial downloadable games have been bad. If they better organized the store, there wouldn't be the problem of looking at things you don't want to see. Thankfully the store's layout is going to be updated.

EDIT: Gamespots's weird little message enter box keeps joining my words every time I type. :x

I agree that the PS Store is very unorganised. It needs a facelift. But I still think that you should give it a chance before making threads like this... ranting and raving about how the store is lacking content... it's only been up 6 months. You may think that's a long time but SCEA has been focusing on so many different things lately that the store can wait. Great games are coming. Once they are out they will need additional downloadable content and there will be time to develope arcade games for the platform. Also, most of those game are made by small development teams. They don't turn stuff out as fast as an EA would.

Some may have said what I'm about to say, but I'm not going to read thourgh these posts right now. How long did it take Xbox Live before they had music, movies, great classic games, and the like? Remember, the PS Store is only as old as the PS3 itself, only about 7 months now. How many YEARS has Xbox Live been around?

-oG-ShAdY

They should be staffing new people for the music and movie bit alreadysince they aren't going to be able to staff current development teams to this project because their development teams are educated in making games, not distributing movies. Also, how much man power does it take to port a few PS games to the PS3? All of the firmware updates are in place to allow PS games to run off the PS3's hardware. They probably just need to change a few things to make the game stream off the hard drive rather than a disk. Besides, those few bumps, there's really nothing else to it. You don't have to come up with a story, you don't have to create environments, you don't have to make character models, etc., etc., etc. As I've said before, Nintendo's had all of these great N64, SNES, NES, etc. games fora while. I don't get why Sony can't get permission and/or the staff to port these games to be downloadable over the PS Store. Maybe I just don't understand part of the procedure of it, but that seems like all they'd have to do. Yes,I know the downloadable content can't come in waves yet because there aren't enough games for them to make downloadable content for. The only content worth downloading was the Resistance Map Pack, and that finally just came out last Friday! Couldn't they have released it before they got the global servers were working? I don't understand that either.

While I admit that yes, there's always room for improvement I wouldn't say I'm disgusted. There could be more demos, and more add ons and some innovative things like episodic content, but that's really not sony's fault. Developers are not utilizing it yet. The store is in it's infancy where as if you look at xbox live, it's been really developing for about 5-6 years now, since the original xbox. Also features like renting movies, while they may be innovative, it's just so much easier and cheaper for me to walk over to my library (which has a lot of new releases on dvd) and just borrow the dvd. I would probably get better quality and no possibility of internet hassles etc, so that kind of thing i really don't care about. Considering that it's in it's infancy, it's not doing badly at all, and as an average person, I get pretty much everything i need/want from there.

im saying it will get the initiative going for music on the store. since they have songs and music vids on the singstore no doubt they will have in the PS store. also how can about 20 (sorry they modified the store so i cant tell the exact #) be all bad. this only means that sooner or later we will get more PS1 games. i dont like half-*** stuff. thats why i bought a PS3 sony puts there stuff out not when people want it to but when its ready not like the other console. and also by compararing it to the other console i belive you have broken the forum rules but im not complaing it should be in system wars. im aware i used shortened version of japenese and that was by accident so dont use that agianst me.

actually MK2 and calling all cars and SSDHD are on my PS3 and i play them more than my 60$ games sometime. singstar will help get the Musci going and sony has VOD plans later this year. also check the JAPS store they have like 20 or more PS1 games and clasics but thats all they have. we have al little bit o everything.

1) I seriously doubt that the Singstar songs will be playable directly from the XMB.

2) I know VOD is coming, but they should have had it by now if they really wanted to sell some PS3's.

3) I heard that all of the PS1 games they released on the Japanese store were horrible and I don't understand Japanese anyway.

there was a rumor flying around about a week and a half ago, stating that sony is going to redesign the Playstation Store similar to how microsoft has its live marketplace.Rumor has it thatThey are going to redesign it because they have a load of games that they want to put in the playstation store very soon and the traffic volume thats going to thru the store due to the consumers buy and surf thru the old store will make surfing pretty slow and hard for consumers to use. the Rumor states that they are going to unveil it during E3 as well as PS3 Frimware version 2.0, so i guess its going to be included with the firmware along with heavy home integration. it came from this forum by a guy named shinblade, I actually talked to this guy thru the PSN, he sounds really truthful of what he was saying to everyone on that forum, including me, just click on this link and read what he says

[QUOTE="CR00K"]Funny how you made this thread when they haven't even updated it yet today. We could get a Heavenly Sword demo and Lair. Just wait a couple more hours. If we even get one of those demos I'll be happy.coolasj19

Yes, I know there are a couple good games (only good) on the PSN, but neither interest me and I want that "killer-ap" per say for the PSN.

its the developers!!!!! go whin e to them and not sony. heres a picture ive wantd to post for a long time now even though it may or may not work in this situation.More Pics @ MySpaceAntics.com
