Just curious what people's preference is, written or video reviews?

I personally like to read the reviews. I feel like there is less spoilers than with visuals and it just feels more official.

Ha, I actually like video reviews. I don't think they're as in depth, but I'm just lazy, really. It's easier and more pleasing to the eyes to be watching this game I'm interested in and it's being reviewed at the same time.

Video reviews, but sometimes I have no choice but to read the written one if I want more details. Say if the video review was lackluster(Like X-plays) I have no choice but to read the written portion.

Written, all the way. I very rarely watch video reviews. Only if I really need to see alot of gameplay out of curiosity.

Written gets down to every last detail while video reviews are quik and to the point. It really depends on the game, if it something I really want I will read it but if it is a game I dont really care about but is hyped I will watch the video review.

Overall I prefer written reviews for their more in-depth description, but I like video reviews alot, too.
But yeahh, I find video reviews are far more inclined to show spoilers or exciting events in a game that I'd rather experience myself for the first time I see it. (eg. Gametrailers review of Uncharted 2 showed off way too much of some ofthe games biggest scenes)

Depends. I avoid video reviews for story-driven games (like Uncharted or MGS4), but I enjoy them for games like Tekken or LittleBigPlanet.

Written reviews. I actually enjoy reading, and like someone said they are more detailed.

written, always.. video reviews often have to much fluff and plus its a lot harder to skim through a video review and still get the just of it..

i love video reviews as well, i can see the game in action... additionally i do not think there are spoilers in those reviews, at least the ones i've both watched and readwere almost identical, mostly word by word...

Video reviews because I can see the actual gameplay and also because it's easier than reading.

I like both, and I usually read both if I'm really interested in the game. But I like to see some gameplay with it, so I say video reviews

Depends.

If I'm still doubtful on getting the game, I read and watch.

If I already decided to get the game prior to it's release, written.

If I really really liked the game prior to it's release (usually a sequel), the none. I don't to get spoiled. I bought the latest Ratchet and Clank without checking any reviews of it. :)

Written, because it can get the point across a lot easier. In a video review the reviewer might not pick up on some important details!

Interesting responses... pretty cool. I do almost always do written reviews, but I guess it is dependent on the game being reviewed.

I like my own reviews.

Question wasn't WHOSE reviews, it was what type. In this case, do you like making video reviews or written?

Video, definitely. Video games are a visual medium, so it makes much more sense to actually SEE what the game is like. I get a lot more information from watching video of the gameplay than I do from 1,000 words of some guy giving his opinion - which may be completely different from mine.

OMG! Yeah they ruined half the jokes, that part where the train car flips over and Flyn turning on you GRRR!

I usually watch video reviews because I'm lazy but written ones are almost always better except for seeing the game-play in action.

If I know nothing about the game then yes video but if its a game like MGS4 then i dont look at reviews at all, because most webs site like too give stuff away from the story in there reviews just look at game trailers..

I prefer to read them, it's just that I feel you don't get much from the video reviews, you get to see the graphics and more or less how the gameplay works but most of the time I have already seen trailers and videos of gameplay

Written. You get more detail out of it and it's not as hard as some people think. Plus there's no cutscenes that are showed off in the writing or any spoilers.

Video reviews -- you can actually see the game on screen, figure out whether or not it excites you. I watch Gametrailers' video reviews before making any purchasing decision. That being said, I usually read 2-3 written reviews as well, I try to do GS and IGN and one other site that gave the game a significantly lower score.
