Predict the BEST SELLING GAME for 2008?

I'm curious what you guys think will be the best seller for 2008? Please take into account that I'm referring to total WORLDWIDE SALES and not just sales in the United States. A poll is included for statistical data. Feel free to discuss.

I put some really tough choices on the list because I don't think there is any right or wrong answer. I would have included Madden, but we all know that with respect to worldwide sales, FIFA would crush Madden.

Every single one of these franchises has a fan base that is at least 5-8 million strong...

My pick would be Metal Gear Solid 4 only because this would be Solid Snake's final adventure. I don't think I'm the only one who decided to buy a PS3 just for the opportunity to play this game.

Let us assume a worldwide release for all of the titles listed.

Metal Gear Solid 4 will also be doing a worldwide release. If they actually pull this off, then I don't think Ryan Payton has anything to worry about his "1 million sales on Day 1" quote.

FIFA? It might sell ok in Europe, but not in the USA.

You also conveniently left out the Asian and Australian markets...Think those people play Madden or GTA?

Killzone 2, but from the above i chose GT5.

considering its world wide i would say MGS4 that series is really popular
personally i went for gta4..it has a pretty large appeal :D

Well, I have to give my vote to MGS4 then. It's a superbly established world franchise that I believe will be the most sold. My second opinion would be FFXIII.

I'm having a lot of hope for Little Big Planet, I think it could be a gem which will surprise many ;)

I brought up world wide sales because MONEY IS MONEY. Doesn't matter where it is coming from...

In the U.S. I am pretty sure that GTA IV will be king.

Also, I was pretty explicit about PS3 game sales.

Obviously some people mistook the question as TOTAL GTA IV sales.

I'm referring to TOTAL GTA IV SALES ON THE PS3...

Hence the reason why I posed the question of whether it being on the 360 would seriously affect PS3 sales. (Obviously it will, but seeing that GTA has been a PlayStation exclusive for many years now...maybe that will influence many prospective PS3 buyers to wait until the game comes out to buy a PS3)

I explicitly posted, PS3 game sales.

Then further clarified it by stating worldwide sales, yet people don't seem to listen...frustrating...

After looking at GT5, I wouldn't be surprised if A LOT of people pick this game up.

Not everyone wants to kill people, sell drugs, pimp hoes, etc...I'm not necessarily sure that around the world GTA is going to do that well. In the U.S. obviously it will sell millions and millions of copies. I just don't see Japanese people or that many European people going crazy over it the way we go crazy over it.

Any Europeans posting on this topic? I'm curious to see how popular it is in Europe. I'm 100% it's not very popular in Asia.

I completely agree, the position that the genre is in and with its repuation its probably going to win. An action game that involves a bit of everything
