You could take the Power Cable with you, and just hide your PS3 somewhere safe.

The problem with that, is he's not there there to make sure they're treating it well. Do you just freely lend out movies/games/consoles to people? When you get them back and they're in bad condition....do you just shrug your shoulders and keep letting them borrow things? Also, it's not just about respecting the item, it's about respecting the person that owns the item. In high school, my younger brother used to always sneak into my room when I was out with friends or at work and he'd play on my computer while one of his friends played on the family computer - they'd do co-op games. Now, I had no problem with him using my computer, but the problem I did have was that he NEVER asked. He'd just walk into MY room and play on MY computer without permission. I constantly told him that he needs to ask me and 99% of the time it wouldn't be an issue. After trying to get him to ask me before he just helped himself numerous times, I finally started hiding the power cord. He eventually did find it. So I started taking the power cord with me - when I went to school, it was in my backpack. When I went to work, it was stashed in my glove box and same if I went out with my friends. He got really mad at me, but he eventually did learn to ask. So anytime he wanted to use my computer he'd ask me that morning before I went out to school if him and his friend could play on the computers when they got out of school, since I would be at work and not home. I'd thank him for asking, told him it was fine and I'd give him the power cord. So in the end, it's about two things: 1) Respecting the person that owns the item 2) Respecting the items themselves

I don't think he is trying to be mean he just doesn't want them to break it or hurt it he would probably let them play it while he is home and aware that they are playing it Just tell them to either be careful or don't play it or just hide it somewhere

Take just the controller with you. Leave the games out in plain view to mock them.

Yeah just hide the cable and hope they do not try to use a shaver adapter or something in it.... I'd rather let them play it than risk that...

The Ps3 has parental control/password protection options. Go to settings, select security settings and a password they wouldn't think of. Lock the system out completely for games and DvDs.

For optional protection, let the controller's battery run out completely, and then take the USB charger cable with you.

If they're really young don't let them. My bratty little cousins completely wrecked my xbox and sixaxis controller.

Dude are you serious? Your console has a warranty. Let them use it. Its your job as the older brother to teach them things like respect and self control. If you hide things thats just showing them that being selfish and childish is appropriate. Just show them HOW to use and respect it before you leave.

Yeah, that will end well... "raising kids is as simple as explaining to them what is right and wrong"... lol. I have three kids my friends, 8 year old girl, 2 boys @ 6 and 3 and let me tell you, this doesn't work all the time. My son has learned to use the PS3, PSP, and Wii with little instruction, he watches and does what I do, but my daughter is different, she isn't allowed to touch it because she doesn't handle it correctly. It's not that this is not possible, it's just not as simple as you state it is. Better safe than sorry in most situations that involve high priced products. Most warranties will not cover accidental damage, negligence, or children issues.

Remove power cord. Best solution. Without power they can't even turn it on and soon will give up trying.
