Do you guys see a price drop in the near future? I'm tempted to get a PS3, but I'm waiting for a lower price. I'd be getting it around July/August.
I'm hoping for 40GB/80GB models, with Dualshock, for $300/$400 respectively.

I just posted how much I want it to be, and it's a very reasonable price. The hardware used in the PS3 has gotten substantially cheaper, and smaller. I can definitely see a "Slimline" PS3 in the future. That, plus Microsoft is waiting for Sony to drop prices before they do, so obviously they see it happening soon too.
I just don't see myself paying $400 for a 40GB PS3 without rumble.
how low do u want the price to be? 5 bucks?

It almost seems that way with a lot of people, that's why the stripped down 40 gig was released. Maybe they could just release a cheaper system with one USB port, no wifi, no card readers, and a very small HDD. Then maybe the people that complains about price will have something priced where they want it to be.
You guys kidding? Microsoft IS dropping their prices this year. You think Sony's going to want to compete with a $200 arcade and a $300 premium?
Well anyways, heres to hoping it happens soon. I'm starting to get hyped for GT5 and MGS4. I didn't play 2/3, so I'd get the PS3, MGS Collection, MGS4, and a few PS1 games on PSN.
I doubt it.w7w7w7w7w7Me too, if there was to be a price drop though dont look for it anytime before Christmas..

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! NO! Get a job, ask your parents, sell some old systems or ask siblings. I mean this is really becoming a pain in the butt. They lowered it already and yet some of you are still crying about the price?! I bought my ps3 11/16/06...close to $700 I paid for mines and didn't even flinch over this.
What fun? There's pretty much ZERO worthwhile exclusives, why should I pay $400-500 for it when the 360 is $350 and right now offers a better experience?i have an 80 gig that i got for 600.
keep waiting for the price drop, keep missing out all the fun, keep dreaming

For that price, PS3 isn't much of a choice, but priced at $300, isn't bad. I sold my 360 to get a gaming PC, so I need a console for light gaming. MGS series, PS1 games, PSN games, and maybe a couple full games here and there.

Well if your going to have that attitude get or keep the Xbox360 It's that simple[QUOTE="TMallory2482"][QUOTE="Confondu"]What fun? I love these types of gamers. Believe all the reviews. Knock games they don't play and then post about how much something bites @ss. I love the attitude.

Well if your going to have that attitude get or keep the Xbox360 It's that simplePerhaps a PS2 would be the best alternative. If you've already played through all of the PS3 exclusives to determine there is ZERO worthwhile to them, then it doesn't sound like you need to purchase a PS3. Why not just keep playing the new PS3 games the same way you are playing the exclusives currently...
.......sometimes its not about the prices even though ppl post about prices.......
......its really about the games, I'm waiting for GTA4, MGS4, RE5........ring any bells any1?

Sign up for the Sony Credit card from the Sony store, then buy your PS3 there and get $100 off. ;)
There won't be a price drop for a long time.
the price is just right. If you search right u can get discounts in places like Ebay. I got my 60GB for $400 November last year. I don't expect a price cut until next year or christmas this year. for $300 on the xbox 360 u get what u pay for. no blu ray, wi-fi, charging kit for controller, lack of free online, and faulty hardware.

The most logical thing posted in this thread...
yeah but why wait half a year to save less then $100? not too long ago I saw a PS3 40GB new & used sold for $350 on ebay.
edit: wait the guy must really want that DS3 included in the bundle.

got the 60 at launch, smell like crap (untill i went home the last day to take a shawer) 3 days or was it 4 of waiting, bad sleeps, and $600 + a party... alll worth it...:)
you will not see a slimline until blu-ray itself is cheaper, and you also have to realize that its one of the best blu-ray players and is easily one of the cheapest in price. really they are at a reasonable price w/out a dualshock 3. either way you would want a 2nd controller wouldnt you?I just posted how much I want it to be, and it's a very reasonable price. Nice response. I say im happy with the 400 dollar ps3 i bought. **** i paid 400 for my 360 and 250 for my wiiiiii and im loving them all.
There is no need for a price drop. Its at flippen 400 dollars right now. Shoot i paid 752 after taxes this time last year, and you people are still lookin for price cuts. There are killer games coming and ps3 is supposed to be profitable this summer, I'd rather have sony enjoy some of that profit for a bit and come with a price cut some time right before christmas (or just offer some sort of bundle) and increase their user base. Miguel16
I'm with you on all this, I paid $600.00 + tax then added an extended warranty and a HDMI cable that came to a little over $800.00 and I thought that was a bargin for what I got and with features being added via firmware the value just keeps adding up.
