hey! I need advise from someone a little more technical. I want a bigger HDD on my ps3. I was thinking about maybe 160gb or even 250.

What should I be concerned about?

- Is it damageable to change the rpm from 5400 to 7200?

- what is the most lucrative alternative?

Go for a Western digital Scorpio blue-I put a 320 GB in my 80 GB PS3 and it works a treat-Runs smooth, quiet and fast with more than enough storage.

Heres a link http://www.amazon.co.uk/Western-Digital-Scorpio-Internal-OEM/dp/B0011U65F2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1256792471&sr=8-1

I went with a 5400rpm due to it being the recommended type from Sony. Really the only draw back of the 7200rpm drives are they run hotter and after owning a 360 I'm just paranoid LOL.

The most lucrative alternative? well I'll just say that you'll be better off going with a 500 gig drive it's $90

versus $60 for a 160 gig, more bang for the buck. It really doesn't matter what brand you go with I'm partial to Seagate while the above is recommending Western Digital (bad exp. so I stay away from em). The speed benifits of the 7200rpm are not going to out weigh the heat factor and while your at it I'd recommend getting an enclosure for the drive you take out of your PS3 to make use of it. The enclosures on Tigerdirect are under $20 so well worth it IMO.
