problem with backing up data

I keep getting a message that says "usb drive could not be accessed". Anyone know what to do to fix this, or even some how get by it.

First of all, you need to consider the filesystem on the usb drive. It has to be Fat32. Nothing else will work (i.e. NTFS or FAT). Next, you need to consider the size of the drive you are backing up to. Please answer these: What is the size of your USB drive? What is the size of your PS3 HDD? What file system is your usb drive formatted to (i.e. FAT32)? We'll go from there once you answer these. We'll figure this out.
