This is a problem I've been having on my PS3. I have white dots flickering on the screen during gameplay. Most of the time the dots are in dark areas such as eyes. In La Noire, when I go into a tunnel I see a dot of white lines on the street. Anyone know what's wrong with it?

I would say it sounds like visible polygon seams, but developers are usually pretty good about that on the consoles (you usually get it in PC games when your drivers aren't quite compatible, or just poor modeling in the game). Could be your video card is on its way out and that's the first sign. You may also begin to notice white sparkly pixels on the surface of objects too, which is a sure sign that the video card is dying.

That happens to me sometimes too. I just twiddle the video cord around until they go away.

The first thing I'd do is make sure the cord you're using doesn't have any problems with it. Make sure that it's connected to the PS3 correctly, and if possible, test it out with another cord. But more than likely it's a problem with the GPU. I had a similiar problem with my old 360 and it did turn out to be the GPU. If the wires aren't the problem, just send it to Sony.

it´s not your cables... It´s the PS3. I had an 80GB PS2 compatible PS3 that had the same problem. Depending on the game, you can easily see polygons and a lot of white dots on the screen. It seems that the Graphics Chip is malfunctioning. You should send it to Sony ASAP.

In my case, this never happened while playing PS2, PSOne, Minis, music or videos. It happened while playing PS3 GAMES and if I was trying to see 3D photos (with the new photo app from the store) it was worse than playing games.

I now have a new slim.
