Does your TV have an HDMI slot?

If not, then I'd say to just try some different component cables as you probably got some funky old poopy component cables.

If you DO have an HDMI slot, I suggest you hit up monoprice.

There are a bunch of third-party Component cables for under $20. Any PS2 AV-Out one should do fine. While I use HDMI on my PS3, I did test this cable which I use for my PS2 and it works great, even at 1080P (though Blu-ray doesn't do 1080P of course, but 1080P games play fine):

Is ur ps3 set on 1080p when using ur component cables, because with my 360 when i put it on 1080p it does that. Something to do with older 1080p tvs can only recieve 1080p through hdmi.

actually i have a old westinghouse 1080i tv, looks great and works fine with 360 components. ps3 doesnt get the purple/green haze waves with the wires that came with the system. just these hd components. it has to be the wires so when i get the sony ones today it should turn out perfect. im gonna test the crappy one in the 1080p tv in the living room just to be sure its not my tv ;/
