Are there any major problems with the PS3? I'm going to buy one in a few weeks and I just wanted to know if there are because of that poll on the gamespot page right now about the PS3 not have a shock controller. On a side note, Does anyone really need the rumble feature anyway?

Nah, I don't think so... few little bugs here and there that they're fixing with updates, but I haven't heard of anything really bad on PS3 so far. As far as rumble goes, I can take it or leave it personally. I won't be rushing out to buy a new rumble pad when I've got 2 perfectly useable pads. Can't say I miss it.

Ok, thanks. Gamespot made it sound like the PS3 had more problems.

There have been a tiny number of problems that many times could be user error. Fortunatly most of these can be corrected by asking on these boards or calling Sony tech support.

Here are a couple of user errors that really stand out.

First this guy thought that putting black tape over all the openings on the console would keep the dirt out but the only thing it did was keep the heat in (you can imagine what happened there.

And then this guy put a piece of bolona in the disc drive because it was round just like the disc.

theres the ocasional game/system freeze, and ive heard of only a couple peoples systems outright "dieing", the ps3 has very rare if any problems, and the ones it does are minor and short, and the ps3 while actualyl most likely be gettin a rumble controller again sometime this year hopefully

There is no known faults in the units, but it always pays to check. Most problems such as freezing and such tend to be down to the user or a title with bugs, not to the unit itself.

Great, I doubt I'll be stuffing meat into mine. Lol. Second question: How does the PS3 look on a normal TV? Not HD or anything, cause I couldn't afford both.

Well think of it this way, most people are using the PS3s with normal TVs, so think theyd make it look bad?

Nope. Probably the most reliable console out there right now.

Not having a shock controller? That situation resolves itself Spring 2008.

There's a rumor of a $400 PS3 coming out at the end of the month if you want to wait around. The HDD does drop to 40GB though if that rumor holds up.
