Try changing the folder directory to drive:/MP_ROOT/100ANV01 . it works for me.

are you using the latest version of pspvideo 9 ? you dont need to use the MP_ROOT/100ANV01/MAQ100xx.MP4 file set-up .... you could name the video "anything.MP4" and put it in the "VIDEO" folder on your memorystick

i've tried creating a video folder in the PSP folder and placing them in there but still nothing. I'm using the latest PSPvideo program. I've seen other people having the same problem on some forums and have tried peoples solutions given. would having firmware 3.60 make a difference?

Yes, upgrade your FW, different FW's have different lay outs. Only the most up-to-date FW will allow you to just put the MP4 movie in without thyping all that out. Also, if you have a phat PSP, upgrade too 3.71, it has lots of new features, like custom themes, and ofcourse as I've already said, putting movies and any other type of media is allot easier.

You Should format your Memory Stick using the psp NOT COMPUTER. And you should have all the folders Video Music and Picture in the PSP folder but remember formating removes all data so you better save your data on the PC after formating just put the mp4 video in the video folder, it should work. I tried making anMP_ROOT folder and all but it never worked for me.

The VIDEO folder does NOT go under the PSP folder. It goes in the root of the memory stick. The way movies are handled on the PSP has changed quite a bit and are NOT compatible. If you use the latest PSP V9 and encode with the latest FW profile you MUST put the movies in the VIDEO folder. Conversely, if you use an older profile (say 1.5?) then you must put the movies in the MPROOT folders.
