i recently bought a sony bravia 46'' 1080p tv and im having a problem with the ps3 already. i had it displaying 1080p and then it flickered once or twice during a movie so i put the cable in a different hdmi plug and now my ps3 doesnt display 1080p at all the screen just flickers. i was wondering if anyone knows how to fix this at all? i dont know if its the tv or the cord. i still get 720p and 1080i perfectly just not 1080p now. maybe reset the tv or buy a new cord? any help is much appreciated!

Its is simple.

Settings>display settings>video output settings>HDMI>custom>you will see 540p(already checked,720p,1080i and 1080p>check 720p and 1080p (1080i isnt needed)>press right directional button(your video output list will appear and enjoy)

Set the audio output setting to HDMI>Automatic

Now if on the last part of the video output settings nothing appears(a black screen appears)where you press O to go back to resolution selecting screen.Than i guess theres something wrong with the TV.Try taking all the cords out and pluging them back in and reseting the resolution.

I had a very similar problem. Was using a cheap HDMI cable, which seemed fine for the first few months, then it must have started to break down and my picture was flickering.Go to Play.com and buy Monster 1 metre cable for £14.99-Problem solved(Hopefully)-Well it worked for me and im using Sony Bravia LCD HD tv too.

I was also having a problem only with the 1080p setting on the PS3 to my 50" Samsung plasma. The screen would flicker two or three times per minute only on the 1080p setting. In my scenario, I have two good quality HDMI cables connected by a HDMI wallplate (all purchased from Blue Jean Cable Company). After a bit of tinkering, I was able to resolve the problem by removing the wallplate and using just one cable for the connection instead of two.
