Hi, i don't know where I have to ask questions but I'll do it here if that's ok. I have a problem and i have no idea what it could be. Sunday, around 17 o'clock, I was playing COD: MW 2 but then my internet fell out and it couldn't connect back so I checked it at the cabel for internet and the main cabel for power accidently fell out, but the game was still on and since then, if i wanna play COD: MW2 it's always stuck or the game freeezes and i can't do anything anymore even not turn of the power. I already resetted it but that doesn't work. The ps3 main menu works only not the game. Does somebody know what I have to do? Thanks.
I'd just unplug it and try to reset the system. I also had a lot of freeze ups with MW2 on my PS3. The game was supposed to auto-save but it didn't because mine froze up at the predator drone part right when I was at the sub, but after it froze and I reset it I started out way back in the snow area with Captain Price. I was doing the veteran playthrough at that time and it was very frustrating.
I did that many times (reset) but that didn't work. So I don't know, is it the game or the ps3? If i start mw2 everything goes normal, but when they say 'Press start' then i have to sett the settings like in the beginning, like the setup of the screen etc. And then i come to the menu where i can choose; Special Ops, Campaign or Multiplayer, Multiplayer + Special Ops is at 0% they say but that isn't, on multiplayer I am 2nd prestige and Special ops at 20% or something. And if i choose multiplayer they recommend me first to do campaign before doing multiplayer (like in the beginning) and if i'm lucky I have 10% chance that I can login on multiplayer but then I am 2nd prestige like before, not on 0% like they say and I can play for like 2 minutes and poof, it freezes again and i'm stuck again.
Try playing another game and see if it freezes. If not it's got to be Modern Warefare.
Edit: It sounds like your saves are corrupted to me. I don't know how it could have happened but thats my best guess. Try creating a new account and playing with a clean game (no saves) and see if that works.
Yes, that's weird, they say that it's 0% but if it logs in then it's like it turned back to normal, and each time I try it again the same things come back, again the settings from the beginning and again 0%. I'll try another game and if that freezes to then it's the ps3, if it doesn't it's the game. And if it is the game, do I have to buy a new Cod: MW2? (That DVD thing).
If it's the game, It sounds like your saves are corrupted to. Try creating a new account or deleting your saved files and playing with a clean game (no saves) and see if that works.
For the longest time MW2 would do that on my 120 Slim, and nothing i would do would fix the problem. i just returned the game and didn't try it again till a the summer and after a couple different patches the game now works without freezing. Never had this problem on the 360 so don't know why its such an issue on the PS3. Sorry, I would just wait it out till Black Ops comes out anyways.
Dude a similar thing happened to me on LBP. I'm guessing that the ps3 may have been trying to save or something when you shut it off (do you remember if you shut if off with the manual switch on back or the one on front?) so it corrupted your data like the guy said earlier. If it is corrupted, there is nothing you can do to recover it. Nothing. If you are lucky, deleting the save files may work. Also, you may want to reinstall the game as well. If you aren't so lucky.... well you may have to boot your ps3 into safe mode and then go through options in that to check for and delete corrupted data. I never was able to delete my LBP corrupted data and the problem spread, eventually stopping my browser from working (?!) it only went away when i upgraded my hard drive and backed up my data on an outside source.... Like i said earlier, delete that data manually and hope all is well. good luck
No, go to Game Data Utility and delete the game data for MW2. It should re-install as soon as you next play. It probably won't make a difference but it's something I'd try before deleting your save file.
Allright, so I tried another game from a friend of mine and that worked with no problem but my friend also has COD:MW2 (we play it together) and we tried his disc and that didn't worked to, so it isn't the game but the PS3.
