So without a memory card purchase you can't play games on the VITA. I bet Sony was very proud to get up on stage and announce a price of 249.$ just left out the part about the fact it won't work when you buy it. Like seliing you a new car without a steering wheel. Sony might as well of sold it for 5$ with a 300$ memory card. Same either way. So really your looking at upwards of 400$ after all said and done to get a working Vita with a game. Sony seems so disconnected.

So what. I played the Vita at the last E3 and $249 for that thing is amazing! I would easily but one at $350 or $400.

Not all games work without a memory card, but some do. To say it doesn't work out of the box is a little extreme.

Stop being poor and just give them your money. Nobody is going to give you a memory card for free.

Only about three games won't work out of the job without a memory card. Not researching your information is a bad way to go about buying things, especially electronics.

http://www.technobuffalo.com/gaming/portable/list-of-ps-vita-games-that-require-external-memory-appears/ This is a short list of games that require an external memory card. The list includes Uncharted: Golden Abyss, as well as Hot Shots Golf and Ridge Racer. It is an old list, and I don't know if it will remain accurate for North America. Obviously the list will grow slightly, but it's a very short one.

That's simply not true and that's all I'll say on the matter. Do a little research before you post foolishness.

And thus becoming the smallest niche in the market.

I see small point with the VITA if you're not gonna experience at least half of those games that require MMC. (like UC:GA)

If you really like the VITA then 20 bucks isn't that much. (Specially if you're in the US)

It all depends on what you're principle is.

Oh, damn. And I'm sure there were so many of us here who were going to buy the system with no plans on ever getting a memory card for it.

It's not like I didn't have to buy a bigger hardrive with the PS3 or 360

Even if you could play games without a memory card, who even buys a handheld without buying one anyway?

I thought this thread meant that the product itself was dead on arrival. Of course your game won't play without a memory card, that's like expecting your desktopto play a game without a hard-drive installed. Video games have been reliant on seperate memory space for consoles since 1995, and 2004 for hand-helds.Where have you been?

Doesn't change the fact that it's stupid to even need Memory Cards these days. They prevent so much.

3DS doesn't need it, but you'll probably argue that the games are smaller or don't have as good graphics. I don't freakin care, Make a cartridge or something that can actually hold memory.

So dumb to have to pay for Memory cards I think. At least in PS3's they're built in. Maybe they should have built in a memory harddrive or something, and if we need more, then we can use memory cards, but jeez that's ridiculous.

There is a pack at Gamestop and several other places that includes a 4gb memory card, case, cleaning cloth, protective film cover, and headphones for $40.

So....yeah.

I agree. If Apple is capable of stuffing a 32/64 GB Hard Drive in their iPods and still retaining it's slim aesthetic, then Sony is more than capable of doing the same to their PS Vita. I think they should have pre-installed a 60GB internal HD along with the option to buy their memory cards incase they need the extra space. That would have been a very smart move, but I don't know if it would be cost-effective in the long run.

The only thing Sony managed with this ignorance is to make me go from a day one purchaser to waiting til Christmas of 2013 to get one. Way to go Sony. Blast a hole in your other foot while your at it.

There is the starter pack for PSvita which includes a 4GB memory card. Headphones etc. So you could have bought that.
