why dont they have this yet? id love to play my favorites and earn a bit of trophies for them too. it's already a neat concept to have PS1 classics, but adding trophy support would be even better.

Well they would have to reprogram the whole game again (which I doubt they will do).Trust me they will need to this I know about programing.
This. I cant wait to go to america in 3 months just to get the U.S PSN card to finnaly get Spyro YOTD(spyro3) and crash 2,one of the best games ever, screw the trophies,Theyre too amazing and i think they never needed Tropheez (although Spyro YOTD skill points can be used as trophies)That would be the biggest waste of time possible for Sony
Want to play the game just because you can win some pretend awards?
Then you don't want to play the game

agreed with this man.....trophies are the biggest waste of time....i play the game to enjoy it,,,not to get the trophies
Adding more PS1 games to the store is better enough.Star650'
i agree....just adding more games i would want to just get is better then adding trophies to them
ps3 games have them and thats good enough...there are still ps1 games i was never able to get that i want
to be added to the psn
It's absolutely hilarious to see how UPSET people get if a game has trophies, or something wants trophies added to a game. Everyone plays games for their own reasons. If someone likes trophies, leave them alone... if you hate them, ignore them.Airek49
Doesn't work like that, what you're saying is wrong
In order to have trophies in the games that requires work
Now considering the layoffs that Sony has been under in the last 16 months that means they're not going to go out of their way and hire a team to add them to games, it would come down to people already on staff.
So now the question is what do you want their staff to do? Do you want them to waste the time adding trophy support to games that were never intended to have them or do you want them to be a factor in releasing new content for the console?
I (and just about everyone else) wants new content for the PS3, you and the topic creator want Sony to not add new content but instead give a inconsequential add on that doesn't need to be there in the first place where it's absence doesn't change how the game is supposed to be presented
^^
Sorry to say, but what you are saying makes no sense in response to what he said
RatchetV1
Yes it does, I don't know how I could make it any simpler
He says that "who cares if you don't want trophies, adding them doesn't hurt anyone"
I pointed out that yes, adding things like that DOES hurt everyone because time is wasted doing that instead of bringing new content to the PS3

Sorry, what you're saying is wrong. He's right. Everyone plays games for their own reasons. If someone likes trophies, leave them alone... if you hate them, ignore them. Its true. Maybe I'd rather see a trophy update over some game like Wet or Iron Man that takes years to make while updating a trophy patch takes a fraction of the time. You are pretending that Sony is going to be working on awesome games instead of putting in trophies, but you forget all the crappy games that get released too. If trophies are added onto any game, it makes that game more appealing toward a certain crowd. It can increase sales with a minimum amount of work. Kojima is apparently making a trophy update to MGS4 while making two games so I'm betting a trophy updatedoesn't require the whole staff to stop what they are doing. You act like only 3 people run a company.
Sure you want new content to the PS3, but most of the content thats been released isn't that great! Why not get something that we actually ask for instead of hoping they come up with something random that we enjoy? Saying someone's opinion is "wrong" is "wrong" in itself. What makes you think you are "right" in an opinion?

I don't see where you're seeing "opinion", I've said nothing but fact
The fact remains that a workforce can only do certain duties and if you add "adding trophy support" to games then they're unable to work on new content at the same time.
I also like how you say well it's ok to waste people's time adding trophy support because not everyone makes good games. So the way you see this is that the people who will be doing this will be the people who don't make good games so who cares if we're not getting new content from them.
Seriously?

Airek49 isn't wrong for stating his opinion. Saying he's wrong for his opinions isn't a fact buddy, he can say whatever he feels. It is halarious to see how UPSET people get if a game has trophies or if someone wants them. Everyone does play games for their own reasons. If you don't like trophies, leave the people who do like them alone. You go off the wall talking about layoffs and adding content. Saying that you and everyone else wants content for the ps3 as if you speak for the whole community... when he didn't say anything about that stuff. Seriously, check that ego.
I like how you say its a waste to add trophies to support games that never intended to have them, as if you decide whats best. Guess you didn't hear about the uproar to add trophies to MGS4. If it helps sell games, they will do it. If they are going to re-release old games, why not give it something to help its sales? Is it so bad to listen to what customers are asking for? Its not a "waste" to make something that will help the game sell and satisfy customers. There's plenty of "new content" that the gaming community could care less about, but you would rather fight for something you don't know about over something we actually want? Give me a break.
BTW Sony has over 12 million employees and left the option to implement trophies up to the discretion of both internal and third-party developers. Its not Sony saying "Lets add trophies to this game" its NaughtyDog, its Insomniac, its EA Games. Sony's layoff's have nothing to do with adding content to games because its not up to them. Its also normal for a company to split work off to assigned departments. Not everyone is doing the same thing and you don't have to hault one project in order to start another. So what if some people want trophies. You don't? Big deal. Its something some people want and they arn't wrong for wanting it.
A lot of these developers that did the PS1 games moved on to other projects. I would have Naught Dog work on their next game then patch trophies to crash bandicoot or insomniac work on spyro. The games are $6-$10. I mean are trophies that important? Yes the reasons do matter. If your only into gaming for virtual rewards that don't do anything then why are you even bothering to play games? People should play games because they actually want to play them for the content they offer from the game itself. Thing like "I want to play Mario because I like jumping around and exploring environments." Cheating yourself out of cool games because they don't give you a virtual reward is dumb mistake and it's a shame that trophies are the deciding point in whether a game gets purchased or not. Jaysonguy is actually correct on this front. He might say things in a rude manner, but on this one he has a bit of a point.
Sony has made great strides in the past yearto improve everything they have. Multiplats runequal as good and they arrive at the same time for the most part. There are actually PS1 games on the store as well asbrand new games too.No one else patches old games. Some have even stopped supporting putting old classics up on the store.
I remember where there was like one game everymonth or so on the store, we get at least one game every weeknow of some kind. Almost everyseries that has helped sell the Playstation brand is up there except the squareRPG's. Crash, Spyro Syphon Filter, Legacy of Kain, Tomb Raider, Cool Boarders, The bestTwisted Metal, Jet Moto, Rally Cross, Tekken, Street Fighter Alpha, Medal of Honor, Metal Gear, Castlevania. The Final Fantasies are slowly rolling in, other than those, Sekouden 2, Xenogears, and Chrono Cross. What else is there really other than Resident Evil.
Give Sony a break, they did everything the majority asked for, they made the console "cheaper"and people still complain because there is still not something init. You can't get a better for $300. Whatever, complain all you want while others have fun.
some of you are being overly dramatic and taking it up the a**. All i did was merely suggest something i thought would be interesting. nowhere in my initial post did i say "IM NEVER GONNA PLAY ANOTHER GAME AGAIN WITHOUT TROPHIES!!11" so stop being ignorant and saying "if you are only playing games for virtual rewards that dont mean anything, dont play at all !!" or anything else like that. It's just showing you arent very good at understanding... and im so sorry that its difficult for you.
Just because you have maybe 20 BRONZE trophies doesn't mean you should hate them and hate everyone that even suggests anything about them. Go cry somewhere else.
What a waste of time it would be for Sony to go back and add trophy support to all PS1 games, not a good idea dude. I much prefer Sony to put that time to bring some more PS1 games to PSN, trophies are not necessary to enjoy previous gen games.Swift_Boss_ATrue, I wish they would bring the full range to PAL territories too! Although I really don't think it could be that hard to add a few trophies, maybe a gold or silver for completing each one, they could probably just pull the data from the PS1 save?
It would be kinda cool, but it's too much work for something so inconvenient. As stated earlier, they would have to talk to the devs to re-code the game and talk to the publishers to get the game onto PSN etc... it's just too much work. PS1 games are classics no need to "update" them with trophies, unless they're being re-made like the GoW collection deal.
