I remember reading EGM and the pre battle articles on the PSX and Saturn. It was clear that the PSX was going to be the better option from the very first article. I had lots of fun with the pack in game Ridge Racer. I beat the black and white special cars, a big gaming accomplishment for me back then. I had twisted metal and just soaked in the open world (for back then) gameplay. I had jet set moto, the first crash bandicoot which I sucked at. Lets see, hard for me to remember a lot of them, Area 51, Destruction Derby, tekken, some motocross game, Tomb Raider, gran turismo, resident evil, Revolution X ( Aerosmith became popular again in the mid 90's didnt they ). I rented a lot of these games and my friend down the street had some as well. I rented MGS1 and didnt get it at first, when I did, I decided it was too technical for me, back then at least. I tried playing snes rpg's but could not get into them, that happened with 7. I missed out on all the great psx jrpg's back then, I need to get a ps2 and play some.
I have a hard time remembering a lot of the less memorable psx games I played. I'm pretty sure its bc the launch models all fell apart after a short time. It started with the disc drive hub, the plastic snap pieces started to break off one by one. The console lasted just long enough for me to beat FF7, which I got when it first released and played everyday until I beat it. The console had to be placed on its side when I was playing FF7, shortly after I beat ff7 it wouldnt work at all. I have read now that the next step was to turn it completely upside down. That never crossed my mind back then, thats just too bizarre for me.
So I had a short but intense run with the psx. When the N64 came out I was all about that and my psx was broken. So I have fonder memories of my N64 that generation.
