I am so happy that I still keep my PS2 as well as having a 60GB PS3. Original Silent Hill is confirmed for a remake for PS2. This somehow relieve the pain of lacking a good survival horror game for PS3. Yes, Siren is good, but it does not seem to be a complete one. And don't get me started with the terrible RE5! Great to know that the new game, entitled Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, will arrive for PS2, PSP and Wii this autumn. I am so excited to revisit the game. Are you? **News from Gamespot Silent Hill: Shattered Memories confirmed for fall By Tom Magrino, GameSpot Posted Apr 6, 2009 7:22 pm GMT "Reimagined" edition of Konami's original survival horror adventure to spook Wii, PS2, PSP later this year. Last week, online reports surfaced claiming that Konami was prepping a remake of its original survival horror action adventure Silent Hill, which first saw release on the PlayStation in 1999. At the time, a Konami representative confirmed for GameSpot that an official announcement for the game was en route. And true to its word, the publisher revealed today that Silent Hill: Shattered Memories will arrive for the Wii, PlayStation 2, and PSP this fall. Calling Silent Hill: Shattered Memories a reimagining rather than a remake, Konami said that the game will again follow Harry Mason as he searches the eerie town of Silent Hill in an effort to find his daughter. However, Shattered Memories will offer a number of new wrinkles on the original, with Konami promising "an interactive user interface" as well as a revamped puzzle system. As noted last week, the most significant change to Shattered Memories will be the psych profile system. Speaking to Nintendo Power, producer Tomm Hulett commented: "One of Shattered Memories' most significant and intriguing additions--your answers actually affect how the game unfolds. And it doesn't end there. The game 'watches' you constantly, and your behavior throughout can determine when you'll meet certain characters, which scenes you'll witness, and a variety of other factors." With 2008's Silent Hill: Homecoming released for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC, Konami noted that Shattered Memories will be the first installment in the series released for the Wii. The Nintendo edition will support the Wii Remote's motion-sensing capabilities, with players using the controller as a stand-in for a flashlight and cell phone, which aid them in finding clues.

It's funny how you claim that RE5 is terrible and Siren is incomplete and then come along with this. This has more chance of being a flat out failure than being any good. It's not even being made by the original developers, I doubt this team even know what they're doing with this. I'll give it a try, but I doubt Climax's ability to make a decent Silent Hill game.

Yes the previous release is pretty similar to SH2. However, the new developer seems to have demonstrated that they are capable of making SH games. In addition, this new release is said to be a "reimagine". Graphics update a bonus? BTW, I am sure many would agree with me that RE5 is not a survival horror type of game any more.

Word of advice never listen to what devs say UNTIL youve played through the final products....more than most of the times they are full of their own ****

What I don't understand is WHY do they have to make a remake of Silent Hill for PS2, they should make it for PS3...how do they want people to jump to next gen otherwise?

Me neither. Silent Hill Homecoming was not bad tho. I really enjoyed the first SH game. I will play the remake on my PS3 when it comes out. However, why don't they just make it available for PS3 since they have had a go on next-gen?

I believe they're not making this game for PS3 because the lead platform for this title is the Wii. It's being made with Wii motion controls in mind. They're porting it to PS2 and PSP to make extra cash and because it's a easier process for them.

I am surprised that they are still making PS2 games. Especially as it comes out later this year. Thought they would have stopped by now.

But I suppose if you can't afforda PS3 then it is worth it to you.

if they were going to make a remake for the ps3 as well, wouldn't they just release it for the PS3 and not the ps2? i dont get why they are still releasing some games for last generation.

This is awesome news but I would not get my hopes too high. It would have been extra awesome if PS3 was BC, sorry sony, guess I won't be buying it.
