Hey guys...I've had a 60 gig PS3 since the beginning of January, and I love it. However, every time I put a PS2 game in it, it loads up and plays, but the screen goes totally wonky and it's unplayable. It looks like someone messed with the horizontal hold on an old tv. PS1 games work perfectly. I'm using a Toshiba HDTV with an HDMI cable. Am I missing a setting or something? Or is it my system? Help!

it may be the game you are trying to play, some ps2 games have compatibility issues with even the 60gb ps3, check the compatibility list to see if your game plays

I have played a lot of PS2 games on my PS3 with hardly no problems, reason I say hardly I had one game that the sound or video would do crazy things at any time during the game. It was fixed with a firmware update after a couple of updates. Now have you got the latest firmware update and have you tried playing with the settings on your system.

You don't need to do that seeing how the Ps3 will upscale the games to the settings the television can handle. It's gotta be the game. Do other Ps2 games work fine TS?

The games I have tried are NBA Street Vol. 2 and Midway Arcade Classics Vol. 2, as those are the only PS2 games I own. Got them for cheap at Gamestop just to make sure the backwards compatibility thing worked. It's just weird that those games give me squiggly doom, but my 13 year old PS1 games work fine, so it shouldn't be a matter of system settings.
