i play Soul Calibur 3 and God of War 1 on my PS3 with fantastic results.
at first the graphics were just okay, but all i had to do was change the display settings in the options menu and PS2 games all of a suddenly become so much better.
Now I know that this was supposed to be solved through an update a while ago, but I don't think I know how to set my PS3 to run my PS2 games properly so that they will look better. Everytime I tried to play an old game they looked blurry as hell and this was after I turned on the PS2 smoothing option. How do you get the best picture out of these games? I have a 56inch JVC HDTV 1080p native so I shouldn't be dealing with blurry PS2 games. I'm pretty sure other people have the same problem.GoldenGloveBe aware that some games look better in 480p and other look better in 1080p upscaled. For example, I like Black better in 480p, but God of War better in 1080p. You have to remember to turn on smoothing on the PS3's display menu.
I have played several PS2 games on the PS3 and have found that each game has it's own kinda unique setting when it's upscaled and smoothed. The best thing is try different settings on the the XMB settings along with the games own settings options to get the best out of the game.
Note the PS1/PS2 games and any SD DVD can never be upscaled to any thing past maybe around 720i at best, because they were developed long before the 1080 format ever came out. That's why some games really look better at a lower resolution over the highest resolution settings you can use.
