That would make sense and go along with Sony's plans of dumping PS2 BC.

It seems like a logical reason for Sony to "get rid of" backwards compatability...Maybe PS3s still have BC, but only for future titles to be released on PSN...

Me too, There is easily 10 titles I would be willing to buy. It would be an amazing idea if they did this, and I see nothing holding them back. If they can release PS3 games like burnout paradise over the PSN I don't see how there would be any problem releasing PS2 games...

I remember way back when the ps3 was about to launch. Sony said they would release ps1 games on the PS Store and eventually, ps2 games. I remember i was blown away that we would be able to have ps2 games on a hard drive. Sorry that I don't have a source, but i remember!!!

Big question: how much will you be willing to pay for a game. For me it would be $20 TOPS!!! And that would be for only a few games coughs-FFX, GTA-coughs

I think the PSN games rely on the BC chipset. Which is why PS1 BC haven't been shafted because PS1 games are on PSN. I don't think the PS3 is emulating it on it's own.

It would only make sense for them to do that. It is an extra area that they can use to attract old fans and news customers into spending more money.

I think it would be much better for them just to sell full PS2 emulation over the PS store for 30 bucks.. who wouldn't buy that!?

It's Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection. An arcade port of the same name. Do you really think that's PS2 hardware?

They need to work on their BC first but they dont really care about that. I did not do my homework enough before buying mine and got the 40g model. Its bad enough they have PSP games on the PSN that i may have accidently downloaded once and realized I was an idiot for not owning a PSP or realizing that a PSP game probably wont play on a PS3.

wouldn't to do this they'd have to enable backwards compatibility in order to play ps2 games, or else they'll have to rebuild the game for the ps3 live the psn games.

I've got a 60GB system, so I'm still able to play my old PS2 games, but I'd love for them to make PS2 games available for download. It'd give me a chance to pick up some games that I never got a chance to play, like ICO or some of the RPGs I never got around to. As long as the price is right (under $15 for most games) I'd be willing to shell out the cash.

Um, no. That doesn't make sense at all. Even if you put them on PSN they are still PS2 games and you obviously can't play them without BC.

PS2 games would be great but I'd settle for expanding the PS1 content for starters. I'd love to download the FF classics, metal gear, chronocross, and other great PS1 games. Right now the selection isn't very good (in the U.S. store at least).

It would be a money pit for them. Nostalgia can make so much bank, it's incredible. Besides, we've all missed some great PS2 games. I'd love to play Devil May Cry 1. They need to do it but the PS1 classics (though they are planning to get more) are lacking as of now.

T.T u can't just buy bc...it requires hardware. Best thing for sony to do would go the Microsoft route and do individual BC for each game they release on the store for games they know will sell quite a bit, such as FFX and maybe ICO just because i want it T.T

I would be interested in getting all the mgs games. Plus both god of wars, final fantasy X, Onimusha, Shadow of the Colosus, Odin Sphere I would LOVE to see all these games on the PSN store.

before they do anymore random things they should release what should have been given to everyone the video store, come on the US is not the only place on earth, just cause they eat more micdonalds doesent mean that mcdonalds will stop making franchesis across the globe. and enough with this legal crap i want what should rightfully be for everyone the video store and of course than ps2 games.

No. Send a downloadable update to everyone so that they can get B/C on all consoles out there. I have a 60gig so I can say that I love the fact that any game for the PS2 I can play on the PS3 and in most cases the games are enhanced to a good degree because of the smoothing and resolution upgrade. Say no to this and complain for an emulator patch you'll be better off and besides if they do that they will have to provide some sort of emulator for the PS2 and they must have one for the 80gigs without PS2 processors. Think about it!

I think both PS3 and 360 need to make it so the games you already own for Ps2 and Xbox1 can become free for download via use of a proof of purchase of some type.

I guess Sony wants to get a little more money out of the PS2
