My question still stands. Why should PS3 users care for how a Sony product is selling on an Online Retailer?

Because if the PS3 sells well then it'll be more likely that game exclusivity with MGS 4 and others will stay and game developers in general will want to make games for PS3 and make them very good games.

More success means 1) the console will have a longer life & 2) more games Amazon is a good indicator of how PS3 is selling online because it is one of the largest online shopping sites.

Like fools? Jeez - talk about a freaking killjoy! Anytime the PS3 is pulling in good numbers is a good thing, I think you need to check into getting some prozak or something - cause you're either a depressed, or just angry.. haven't figured out which yet.
