Ps3 40gb stopped reading discs :(....

Hey guys, so today I was sitting down to view inglorious basterds on bluray with my family for christmas and the thing stopped reading it 30 mins into the movie so I thought it was just a dirty disc. Turns out it won't read any other discs and after I cleaned inglorious it won't read that either. I think I bought it a year and a half ago. Will sony send me a new one or something if I send them my receipt ? This is really messed up to happen on Christmas :(.

as its over the year warrenty they are likley to make you pay, but there are some things you can do first to try and make it work, like bringing up the "secret" system restore menu and stuff, look it up on yourtube , im not joking, some of the time its software problem not hardware, worth a try before you send it back

Sounds like your Blu Ray lense needs some cleaning. If you're out of warranty you can search Youtube and find ways to open your console and clean it or you can call Sony and pay them $180 to get it fix.

Could very well be software problem only hopefully. The thing works fine with stuff from the hard drive and the menu but any discs it messes up :(.
