60 GB for sure. It has more features, and it has both Emotion Engine and Graphics Synthesizer chips, so it's fully compatible with PS2 games.

It's time to stop with this Emotion Engine crap. I've been in the next gen phase for about 2 years now with my 360 and I care less about old tech games. Heck, I still have 2 ps2's collecting dust. It's time to stop thinking in the past and move forward. I have a 60 gig ps3 and not once have I played a ps2 game on it. This was marketing hype by Sony to make you think backwards compatibility was important. Look at Sony's plan now! People need to stop living in the past and get with the future. I just don't think Sony's plan was to have people buy PS3's just to play PS2 games. Save yourself $100 dollars and buy the 40 gig which compares well with the 360 premium. And the only reason I have a PS3 is because I bought it for $250 used and it works like a charm; not worth the $500 they were asking for. Maybe if the PS3 games were any good we would not be having this discussion.

If you don't have any PS2 Gamesthen buy 40 Gb version. If you need more USB ports use splitter, and be happy!

I am glad I have the 60 gig PS3 because I don't want more than one console in my living room and there are some PS2 games that I enjoy even now.

I agree with this guy. If you dont have ps2 games then buy 40gb. 40gb is quiter too and doesnt heat up as much as the 60 or 80gb

... The only reason to go with the 80 is if there are no 60's left. 60's the better sku if you want backwards compatibility. And they should be the exact same price anyways. If b/c is not an issue, the 40gb is superior due to the die shrink. PS3's do run warm, make no mistake, they are just very well made and can take it unlike the 360. The 40 should run way cooler if the 130w rating is any indication.

Whatever, whats wrong with wanting a 60 gb for backwards compatability? I have a ton of old ps1 and ps2 games and I wish to play them in high def, wireless, and on one system -alongside with my ps3 games.

I was referring to granturismo's post about getting an 80 instead of a 60. I have a 60gb ps3 with a 200gb hdd, and the game I play the most is Persona 3. No B/C was a deal breaker for me, so I jumped on the 60 when the price dropped, but for someone without ps2 baggage, the 40gb may be the better bet. The 80 is a last resort for b/c.

Imo go with the 80 gb. It comes witha good game, enough space so taht you dont have to buy a new hardrive and has a good 75% bc so it plays the most important games.

when will they stop selling the 60GB or have they already stopped. I don't have enough cash for the 80GB and I have too many ps2 games that I like to play to get the 40GB that won't play them. I've got a ps2 and its about to go out on me.

If that is the case, then just get the 40GB, so you can enjoy COD4, Warhawk, Uncharted, Ratchet nextgen. And last get another ps2 for cheap. I am sure you can find it from around $80 or under. Just have to look around and get it from a reliable source. I actually bought a 2nd original xbox from a co-worker cause I trust him. The console I got from him works fine. So for the ps2, just get it from a reliable source. or Get it from Craiglist. You should examine it before you buy it.
