Howdy!

So i was wondering if Sony really discontinued the 80 gb or 60 gb model of the PS3. I've been waiting years for MGS4 but i don't even own a ps3! I prefer the 80 gb model over 40 gb cuz i really want to have backwards capabilities.

If the model doesn't exist, do you guys think it's worth settling with the 40 gb? I'm willing to work at mcdess all summer long just to afford a PS3 and MGS4!

It wasn't discontinued, just repackaged as a bundle with MGS4. Good luck finding it, though...

Well that stinks that you cant find em mgs4 is great i got my 80gb when they had the motorstorm deal it is nice to have that extra space but if you cant find the 80gb grab a 60gb and upgrade that to 120gb with another hard drive.

good luck to ya

Well that's one option.. except (at least in NA) the 60 is even harder to find (and a better model to boot) than the 80. The main advantage of the 80 (and even moreso the 60) over the 40 isn't just the extra space, but rather the extra features; backwards compatibility and all that.

believe me i would try to get my hands on the 80 gb bundle with mgs4, but i know those things are in limited supply. So there's no other way of getting a 80 gb besides the bundle? I really need backwards capabilities

My friend and I both got our playstation 3 when it was bundled with motorstorm. Now they did away with that and his eventually broke due to a static shock from being on the carpet i believe. He got his playstation back however even when i thought that the 80gb was discontinued only bad thing was that he lost all of his save info and he had to download all his programs again. Thats why i have an external hard drive and save everything that i can onto it so in case my ps3 goes one day i wont have to worry about getting everything back.

Actually they did discontinue both the 80G and 60G, and the only way you can find an 80G sadly is with the MGS4 bundle which, and I'm not gloating, I got last week when they were released.

True I can;t.

The bundle is not limited or a one-time deal.

They're just sold out like the Nintendo Wii. It doesn't mean they're discontinued. What it means is, they're popular.

You should see some on the shelves this week. :D

That is ****ing lame.

Sony is doing it all wrong. They should keep the bundle available atleast until August.

It's good to see more are on the way atleast.

The current 40GB console has the non-rumble controller, which sucks. No backwards compatibility. Less USB and no memory card readers.

Everyone hates the 40GB console because its like the Core version of the Xbox. It's inferior because it's stripped. Like how Windows has multiple versions of Vista. You want the Ultimate because its the true form. The way the product was Originally intended.

Customers deserve to be able to purchase the 80GB console.
