True.

They are losing money with each hardware sale.

They make it up via software sales.

This is not new in the gaming industry.

And they make up alot as well $60 for a game. in the end the don't lose much at all. Not to mention money made in the PlayStation Store.

The consumer is getting the product at a discount. Kudos to Sony.

Unlike..other companies...over pricing their products.

I believe all console companies (with the exception of one right now) lose money with their hardware.

Over time, with falling technology costs and improved manufacturing efficiency, these companies begin to churn out a profit in their hardware and software sales.

Ultimately, yes, the company always makes money. If they didn't, we wouldn't be purchasing from them anymore. They'd have dropped out of the game.

there not losing $200 dollars on the sale people. they are spending $800 to make it and then sell it for $600 so they do lose $200 but its not during the sale. there is a difference.

also they get paid to put things up in the PS store or they also get to do free Advertisments for Sony studio films. Plus all the stuff people can buy of the PS store, Sony isn't crazy they might not make money of the PS3 directly and make up most of it in software sales but they get all their profit in other areas until years down the line when the PS3 become cheaper to make.

how does it not make sense? you people are saying there losing $200 when they are selling it, and to me that sounds bad and isnt true. yea they are losing $200 but not when they sell it they are losing $200 total because its an $800 cost to make.

-$800+$600=-$200. im just saying it the way i like and is more correct.
