Depends.

After I had mine repaired by Sony there was a terrible graphical problem. Sony made a bullcrap excuse to not letting me repair it again so I just got a Slim.

Well it had the disc lens problem to be exact. I just don't want to spend the money if it will break.

This guy is selling it for 175$ but i don't want to have to fix it 5 times *cough my xbox cough*

If it's just the disc lens then you may be able to find a repair person close by that could fix the system in a short time for less than it would cost to send it in to Sony.

they gave me a 90 day warranty when I got it back from them... makes you wonder about the likelyhood of it breaking again.

I wouldn't really worry about it. The failure rate of the PS3 is very very low when takeing the average of ALL the PS3's sold and the number of failed units.

Ive had 1 new disc drive and then YLOD (Where they replaced the motherboard, you dont have to believe me, But i know this cause I know they guy who repaired my PS3) Either way, My PS3 is going strong at the moment, with quicker fan speed increase compared to before my YLOD I have all the faith in the world my PS3 wont encounter a problem again If it does... Ive had such a possitive encounter with Sony support I dont fear if my PS3 does go faulty. Sony Support are excelent to deal with. Hope this view helps :-)

Basically, your always going to be playing with the odds no matter what PS3 you have or entend to buy The PS3s are very reliable in statistic Many people still have a 60GB launch system and still have had no problems or faults develop Its all depending on the envirmoment you keep your PS3 in, and how you treat it But beyound that, its down to how accurate that lil Sony machine put together YOUR machine on the product line (Mass production)

Also worth noting They Guy I know who repairs the PS3 ( You can choose to believe what Im going to type, I have no reason to lie and Im not saying I live next to Mr Hideo Kojima. This is simple a statement from a guy who works at Interserve, a company who deals with Sony repairs) "When a PS3 get sent in for repairs and the system is being repaired due to having YLOD. The repair centre replaces as many fault potencial componets as seemed fit. As a standard, the motherboard is replaced and original plugs leading from the motherboard are repalced with those of a large capacity (slightly larger gauge cable)" This is basicaly what he told me. But it would conclude, once a System has had YLOD, the likely hood of it developing another fault is reduced Greatly by the repair proccess. Now bring on the people calling me B$'er
