ps3 after update/install game freeze

hey guys, so i have 40gig ps3 that is out of warranty, i bought it from wal-mart, Canada. So, evething was fine but after i updated and installed the update and game, ALL MY GAMES STARTED FREEZING EXCESSIVELY! i also found corrupt data in game folder but i formatted everything and it still doesnt work, please help! I dont want to pay $150 to get my ps3 fixed! Thanks.

terribly sorry to hear that man...first things first ur system froze after which specific update/install??

you should always be very specific when describing ur problem so this 20 questions stuff doesnt have to occur..but anyways it matters how you shut down never shut down with the main switch..hold ps button or hold red power button for several seconds. may want to let ur system breath it sometimes causes mishaps but tell me wut update and we can go from there

well if after restoring default settings, reformatting and it still doesn't work than it could be your HDD. try to borrow one if you can or get a new one (you always wanted a 500gb hdd anyway right? :P )

it started messing up immediately after downloading and installing the update for resistance 2, although i also installed the game after the update but after that it will just randomly freeze when playing any game... it could be my hard drive...
