Ps3 & all the HATE!!! Good read

I know these kind of threads are done to death but I really just want to add my 2 cents to the matter so bear with me. I know the Ps3 isn't doing the greatest nor has the best games but why do people always have to put you down for something you like? It's not as if I go on the 360 board and start posts about how stupid their console of choice is or start a flame war.

I find it rather disturbing that we live in a society that a fair protion thrive or better yet love seeing other people's opinions, idea's, views disregarded and being called idiot's for having them. It's naive to believe that in our realm (these boards) that these poster's are mainly a younger auidence since time, and time again we've seen it to be untrue. I guess its only human nature, and the rest of us just need to have thick skin and maybe the only way to stop them is to subcum to their level's but then again why would we ?

Either way people dissing the Ps3 doesnt phase me that much, but mind you it has enough for me to write this post. I just want to know why ? Why ? why ? whY ? I know everyone has their opinions but why called them stupid for them, why not agrue with intellectual posts and have reason in your thought's ?

The PS3 is actually having a better start than the PS2, and the Xbox 360 had.

As for the other post, people do forget that the ps3 is a full entertainment system and you can do a whole lot with it, thats why I love mine!

the only real problem that the PS3 is having right now is all the lawsuites and bad press. if the critics would actually sit down with a ps3 and look at the potential, things would change. whenever you have people spending a lot of money on something, you will always have them try and justify their purchase by making the competition feel inferior. the x360 has been on the market for longer, therfore having a larger fanbase, but things will change, once japan gets sick of the wii you will see sales sky rocket, probably sometime before christmas/holiday season. theres my 3 cents.justin_06

Yeah, besides reporting Sony getting into trouble for the stupidest reasons, new articles will get potsed about how the Wii is selling like crazy, therefore giving the misconception that the PS3 is inferior. The only thing I do disagree with Justin is that Japan will not grow tired of the Wii, but rather, they will slowly buy more PS3 hardware as it comes out. Ninja Gaiden Sigma, for example, will be a system seller for Japan, and look at Dynasty Warriors:Gundam, it is cheesy, but surprisingly well received.

Negative press is ok since its still press and plus they aren't being unrealistic (well some are :P ) with there news. Its just the people, and the news site that tell us that anyone that buys a ps3 is seriously short on a few screws, those kind of people that dont look at our point of view just dont get it!

I think that the negative spin being put on Sony is the reason for most of the insults and stuff. If there were more positive articles on the PS3 then it wouldn't have such a bad rep.Good_sk8er

All the positive news gets spinned some how into something negative as well. I guess its just the nature of the business these guys are in so its nothing to lose sleep about. But for example all the good news with home, and sony's new exclusive either fall through the cracks or get threated as they are the worst ideas. Only a few sites actually have real reasons or have really thought about what they said before they put articles up on the web.

Here is something that might be an interesting view of what could happen I posted elsewhere.

Actually Sony is following a tradition that other companies from Japan has been doing for years. Example everyone may have forgotten about a small motor cycle company that built a inexpensive and very reliable motorcycle years ago. This now is one of the biggest motorcycle,automotive,marine, and small engine builders in the world. That company is Honda motors. It actually drove the original Harley Davidson motor cycle out of business without doing any real negative advertising(today the Harley Davidson name is kept alive due to the fact that AMF bought the name and design).

I have a 360 and PS3 and as a duel owner, I can deffinately see why people bash the PS3 and praise the 360. The simple answer is that there are FEWER quality GAMES on the PS3 vs the 360.Im litterly staring at my PS3 and signing on and off the PSN because most of the games thatare out Ive already played or finished on another console:evil:. Granted the PS3 is still in its early stages but people (especially little kids and the media) do not care about the future, they want instant gratification. So yeah, the PS3 does not match up to its competitor game wise now, but once the developers (hopefully) pump out more games and utilize the systems capabilities, the heat on the PS3 will die down (in theory).

Also, this summer has so far sucked for all consoles. Call of Juarez just came out and gave a breath of fresh air to all those boring shooters on the 360, just waiting for the week of the 25th so that the PS3 can show its colors!

Yup there isn't that many games out there and you can't hide that fact. See your post was fine it showed sony flaws but you kept this thread sensible.Luckly the ps3 does some other things like a media server, blu ray and such so mine gets continue use at this point so I'm happy.

And yes the 25th will breath some life into both consoles so I'm excited for that day, thats for sure!

But, you don't think the PS3 would be the next DreamCast, do you? I would feel quite degrated if it did...But I can't see that. Heavenly Sword, MGS4, FF13 and more are the games that still need to be released. You can't judge the PS3's games now, as they ones aren't the best titles yet. It won't happen theres to much support for the Ps3, and the worst that could happen is the ps3 comes in 3rd this gen and learns from its mistake. Sega was in trouble for more then one gen to cause the dreamcast to fail that badly so don't worry about the Ps3 it will be here to stay !

Haha, thats funny. First off, you state that as its a fact, when it is an opinion.

Secondly, what quality 360 games are there on the 360? Please let me know because for the past 2 weeks i've been staring at my 360, putting a game in the system and shut it off about 10 minutes later. Now, I have had my 360 since February. Umm, please explain to me why the only game that was fun was the single-player campaign in Gears of War? I've played every game that has come out since Gears of War, and downloaded the demos to new games coming out. Only 3 actually achieved the status of decent, Fight Night was the best game I played on 360.

So yeah, please list these quality titles, because im beginning to feel I should've stuck with my first instincts and got a PS3 instead of a 360, so help me feel better about my poor decision.

ReD187 first of you are taking this too seriously..... Im not stating that everything on the 360 is gold, hell half of the titles are FPS. Im simply stating that there are MORE GAMES AVAILABLE on the 360 that consumers can choose from (which may or may not be quality depending on the consumer). This in turn may make or break a company if they compare the availability of games, which is why alot of people shy away from the $600 price tag (dont have the gamese to justify it). I do not need to name any games on the 360 because then I would be stating my OPINION on what games are quality.

Falling back into what I stated in my previous post, the PS3 has a hell of a future lined out for it (thus the reason I purchased it) but many people want INSTANT GRATIFICATION and choose the 360 because of more titles on it, many of whichbeing "praised" by critics because of optimized development of them.

In summary, people simply like variety and CHOICE, and the 360 has that going for it at the moment. The week of the 25th will be the beginning of the PS3's climb to glory.

Sorry sir, you said MORE QUALITY games. Not more games that let the consumers decide which ones are of high quality and which ones lack it.

I sometimes wish people would realise that no console is bad, they're all better than others at different things, and there's no need, just because you bought one, and not the other, to flame the other because you want to feel satisfied and you want to reassure yourself that you haven't wasted your money...

What I always say is that I'm a videogame fanboy, if anything. I go where the games are, whatever console they may be on.

I had a Wii for a while, but got sick of all the mundane mini-game collections that were coming out, so I got rid of it. I also had a 360 for an even longer while, but got extremely bored with all the too-familiar-feeling games that acoming out, so I got rid of it. I used the money from those to buy a PS3 because, while right now there's only a handful of game at most that I play on it, there's games that are coming out that I really want to play, (MGS4, FFXIII, LittleBigPlanet, etc),plus,any games that I would want on the other consoles are most likely being released on the PS3 as well, so, while my gaming possibilities are limited now,in just a few short weeks,starting with the releases of Ninja Gaiden Sigma and The Darkness, I'll be enjoying all the great games that I know I'll love. I'm prepared for the future I guess.

Well put, closed-minded haters are always present when discussing the value of any product.

These types of arguments pro or against any console and their respective manufacturers work like the economics of media sports: A bunch of fallacies that appeal directly to emotions.

It'soktohaveconsole and/or company preferencesbutit'snotoktospitidiotic arguments ignoring all the positives points that the "enemy" console may have, and not even believe it's an enemy at the first place.

Ford vs. Chevy (personally don't care), Pepsi vs. Coke (Coke rules supreme), Mac vs. PC (Mac's are actually better machines but has less support so I use PC's), Linux vs. Windows (Linux is actually better but has almost no support compared to windows)

It's just human nature to pull for your team, which ever one you choose.

X360 vs. PS3
I own both. I love the PS3. I think it is a better machine and has the best future. I did at one time like my X360, but it was not the PS3's fault for my slow hatred of the X360. Heck, it's not even the machines fault. It is actually a good machine except for all the problems with the red ring of death. The reason I started hating the X360 was because of M$. They treat their customers like they are stupid (and maybewe are because we still buy their stuff) and try to squeeze every penny out of our pockets that they can without giving us value for our pennies. I could give examples of this but I already have in other forums.

In conclusion,as far as hardware both machines are great, but as far as company's ethics Sony has my vote in the bag.

I honestly believe it's the high price, the target audience and fear factor.

High Price- yeah this seems to be the big one. I believe these ppl will be the first to buy the ps3 when the price cut comes. Becuase they can't have it now they put it down. The justifiction will be once the price drop comes- "OMG - Look how many AAA games Sony has!!! And on one Whole Disc!!!!" My motto and tactic is always pre order. Once you hear a console or game is coming out - start saving and Pre Order. That's How I get mine. Sacrifice a few take out meals and you'll get there. :P

Target Audience: Xbox for teens, Teens and Big teens. Just a big FPS Genre Console. Might as well play games on pc.

ps3 for (teens/adults(hardcoe games), family and everyone.

Fear Factor: MS and MSFanyboys know that Sony can deliever with the pS3. How do we know this. Becuase MS reason to get into the console market was due to the effect the PS1 was having on sales of game esp the impact on pc games. MS created the Direct X Box, to counter the ps2. sadly failed and it is now ded ded ded. You can't buy an xbox anymore (only in 2nd hand places) - so sad. Now MS believe if they go first, get the market first and the dev they will win. Sadly that is failing as well ie red ring of death, rpg's for the japanese market and now to make family kiddy games. Poor Ms has run to fast and forgot to tie their own shoes and will fall. Xbox will only dominate America, that will be their main blessing that will be their curse.

The best thing to do is just let it roll right off your back. Haters will be haters, all you can do is present your side and hope some of it will sink it. Good example of this is that I got the 3 lems at my local game store to play resistance, and geuss what.... I went in there today and they all told me I was right and they got PS3 too :Dgundamfan80

The good news is that the competition has nothing realy big in their future while the ps3 has the most wanted games for the next two years.

Hey heres a little math to all those who think that ps3 aint making money

PS3: 3.5 million x ~ $580 ( combine premium and basic) : 19 mil gross income

Wii: 7.5 million x $250: 18.75 million gross income

And Xbox 360 all know has more money but note has been onthe market for what? 1.5 years know and the PS3 and Wii (6 months on market) have already sold bout have as much as the xbox 360 and they also have only been through one holiday season whilethe xbox has gotten 2
