Hey guys, I'm thinking about picking up a PSP 3000. I've read up on Remote Play and I understand that you can stream media and/or PS1 games from your PS3 to the PSP via a wireless network. I have a few questions concerning this, I'm not sure if this should be posted here or in the PSP forums but regardless, I hope someone can help!

  • How well does the Remote Play work (i.e. how well does the two devices interact with each other over the network)? Are there lots of problems getting them to connect? Do the games run fine on the PSP when using Remote Play?
  • Am I able to stream media from my PC to my PS3 and then to my PSP simultaneously over a network? (without physically taking said media and putting it on my PS3's hard drive).
  • Am I able to play a DVD movie and watch it on my PSP using Remote Play or would the video have to be physically on the hard drive?
  • Any other cool features on the PS3 that work with the PSP that I havent read about yet?

Thanks for the help! :D

Its great for listening to music as it makes the PSP sound system more LOUDER. I actually never tried the DVD thing but only tried movie watching via the PS3's HDD. PS1 games works fine. I wanted to connect to my PS3 while i was away from home but waiting 90 seconds suks(had to go). Some PS3 demos have remote play feature. You know u cant watch you tube videos on PSP but via remote play u can

  • Remote Play does its job just fine. There aren't any problems connecting them, either directly or through the internet. There is a half-second lag that you'll notice when you're using it, but other than that, it's fine. It isn't exactly the best feature about the PSP and PS3, though.
  • Yes. Just use the Media Server feature to stream media from the PC to your PS3. Here's a good tutorial on how to do this. Once you have all that set up, connect to your PS3 from your PSP via Remote Play and select the media you want to enjoy.
  • You can't watch DVDs from your PSP through Remote Play.
  • You can remote play any PS1 game, if you didn't already know. I like to play Final Fantasy IX while I'm on here since my PS3 is downstairs.

I use the PSP to remotely control my music on my PS3. That way I don't have to keep the TV on and I can do it without having go downstairs every time I want to change the music.

1) I never had any problems setting it up, and the games run fine (at least in my house, havent tried using wifi over a distance)

2) I dont think so. Just put some music/movies on your ps3 hdd using a zip drive

3) Not sure on this one

4) Umm, the i like using the ps3 web browser on my psp, because it works faster and can use youtube.

BTW: you might want to get a psp 2000, ive heard problems about the 3000
