So, my 4yo PS3 (original 40gb) just YLOD and since I'm broke as f*ck I imposed myself the rule of not buying another one till its 200euros. I dont know how things work in america but do you guys think that Gamestop promo where the PS3 was $200 is a good indication that Sony will drop its price at E3? The PS3 is $250 for almost a year now and I think it would be logic for Sony to do it. What do you guys think?

I doubt it since they just announced a price cut last year but it's possible.

Still, if Sony announces a price cut then they better announce they're cutting the price of the PSVita as well. Otherwise, that system will tank even more. Why would someone want a handheld when they can purchase a cheaper, much stronger console with a larger library instead?

How is last year "just"? The PS3 drop from $600 to $400 in a year. And, having in mind how bad Vita is doing comercially I think a price drop at this E3 is a given.

Gamestop just recently had a sale where all PS3's were $50 off (making the 160GB $199), PLUS you got either Mortal Kombat or Arkham City free. It was almost tempting enough to own a second PS3.

A $199.99 PS3 Will happen but not at this E3. a price cut for the PS3 will happen but not this year. Sony is bleeding for money. So they cannot afford to really cut the price. I could see a $224.99 price cut at Christmas.

Seems having free on-line gaming services has cost Sony at lot of Money this generation. When the 8th Generation rolls around. I expect the free on-line to go. But the price cut to under 200.00 dollars will happen when the Playstation 4 is actually announced. So not this E3 but E3 2013.

No chance of a $199.99 Price point this year.

Both PS3 and Vita are due for a price drop. $199 seems logical.

I'm actually hoping for a final major revision, i.e. another even more "slim" model. Like half the size and with less heat. Cutting the form factor could benefit them in terms of unit costs, so hopefully they make it happen. Obviously there are retooling efforts and whatnot in their factories that would be needed, so we'll see.

At this point though the PS3 and 360 really shoud be able to be shrunk down *almost* to the size of a Wii - obviously a little bigger to accommodate the HDD.

It's already been $199 U.S. this year, and that even included a new game ;)

I think the chances are at least 50/50 that becomes a permanent price cut after E3. It's also possible a new SKU is coming - either that or Gamestop just had a glut they needed to clear out. But with that kind of a deal my suspicion is something is up...

Last Christmas, it was $199 with two games I think. But I remember it being $199 and I passed up the deal because I already had a PS3. Bestbuy had some deals under $200 as well before Christmas. The deals are out there. Just gotta watch out for them.

As far as permanent pricing of $199. Far and away. Just bite the bullet and get it. Have fun!

If the don't drop the price to $199 by Thanksgiving then i'll be very surprised. Now is the time to make up ground on the 360 and get more people who have wanted to play all those PS exclusives to dive in and pick up a PS3.

I hope they do personally, but we will see, personally I think they will drop the price to 200 bucks to counter what M.S. is doing.

Problem is, I have a huge catalog of PS3 games so I feel obligated to buy a new one. Unless PS4 has retrocompatibility... wich I highly doubt it. Sony must profit with "true 1080p HD remakes" lol

They need to bring back the smooth piano look, a new model in fact. A price drop would be nice too but not banking on it happening.

It'd be nice, I'd like to get my own PS3 for when I move out since I currently share one.

I think there will be a price cut at E3. Anyone would be foolish to buy a PS3 now with E3 around the corner.
