I am thinking of getting a PS3 soon. I wanted to ask two main questions. Firstly, if I get the 80 GB version it uses software emulation like the 360 to play old games. Does this work right off the bat or do I have to be connected to the Internet? Also how are the games. (Playing some on my 360 suck! They lag and don't play the same as they did on the original counsel.

Second, should I wait? I am hearing of another price drop and wondering also when the new dualshock 3 will come out?

Only the 40 GB has no backwards compat. As for DS3 it won't be out till 2008.

I suggest getting the 60 gb model cuz it has better backwards compability so I've heard. Plus you can change the hd for another one, and so far I've seen 250gb's that would fit. As far as playing ps2 games on a 60gb, no problems in my experience Dualshock 3 comes to north america next year sometime, not sure. Lots of people are buying them from japan and shipping them here, they work.
