PS3 breaking discs

My PS3 has just broken my RDR disc. i will kill someone. but first, does this happen often? It happened before with my Resident evil 5 copy. It cracked the disc from the centre. Does anyone knowhow this happens? google didn't help me on this one....

Well that's new anyway. What type of PS3 do you have and what GB is the hard drive.

If I had to guess I would say that something in your Blu-Ray drive may have come loose, and may now be putting pressure on the disc when inserted.It's easy enough toget to your drive, but it will void your warranty. If it's still under warranty then you should just send it into Sony, and let them try and fix it. If it's out of warranty go to youtube and search Blu-ray drive fix, and you may find a video that's helpful. In the drive there are little arms that hold the game in place when you insert the disc. Maybe one of those arms are loose or maybe a piece of the arm broke off. That's my only guess???

just happened to me with my gta v didnt move the console didnt touch it or break the cd taking it out i ejected from the console on the home menu and it had a crack from the center happened when i was playing online and now it wont work at all had to happen while my wifi was turned off by my mother cuz she had no internet on her laptop the game was cracked about an inch from the middle and it had no previoius damage not even a scratch im ocd about that i always put my games in the box so i believe you cuz now im out 60 bucks and my mom wont pay for shit

I had a Xbox 360 that cracked the disc the area where it is attached to the spindle. But I have never heard of the PS3 having the same problem. I was able to exchange the faulty console and game replaced. But it was a 2005 launch model. This is the first time I have heard of the PS3 cracking discs. So it maybe time to replace the Blu-ray drive/disc reader.

Sony should be able to fix your console. I'm not sure if they still fix the orignal Phat consoles. But they should still be ordering repairs for these.

It happened to me once with COD Modern Warfare, but I think that had more to do with divine intervention!!! lol
