Interesting article, thanks :) I'm actually quite surprised: I didn't realise so many consoles had made their way to the UK, and the figures seem quite solid. However before we get into "omg diz must meen da PS3 pwnageszz", remember that both the Wii and 360 sold out pretty much straight away, with shipments restricted due to the global launches.
The 360 sold out.O yeah,they lauched with about 70000 and were the first next gen to launch.They then forgot to ship anymore for a couple of months.This media stuff is becoming a shocking bias with all spin agianst the PS3.It sold a lot and there were a lot of consoles but they focus on the "didn't sell out"stuffnot the "fastest selling ever".
Its very hard to decide what console based on research :(
On system wars, you read things like "UK PS3 SALES SUCKED" or "95% of PS3s in France didnt sell lolololol" , yet here you hear good news from one article, and something else from another -.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.- wtf is going on this is one warped generation, even on the news and morning breakfast shows they advised people not to get a PS3 (Some game guys being reviewed).
All right! Good news for Sony and the fact that it didn't sell out means nothing. That was part of their strategy and they've been saying that for a while now. Now, if they can increase interest in Japan and North America with Lair, Heavenly Sword and MGS4, then I think it will be safe to say that the PS3 will be just fine. Sure the 360 actually sold out. But they only shipped 70,000 units then because that was the demand. Maybe there is demand for 220,000 units in England, but Sony realized that factors like price and the bad rep from bias American fanboys may have forced some of those demanding the system to wait for a second to see what the PS3 is really all about. To me, this is a sign of success for Sony and with attempts to increase demand in NA and Japan will only lead to increased demand in the UK. I hope the system did well across the rest of Europe.
