Ok when i open up more windows at once (say i open four or five threads here on gamespot) the browser sometimes becomes really slow. It wouldnt react when i press a button or anything. The HDD starts working like crazy. I cant even exit the browser. And even if i do then the XMB is stuck until the HDD finishes working. That can take up to few minutes. Occasionaly it remains stuck and I have to turn the ps3 off by holding the touch sensitive button for ten seconds. Once again, this happens sometimes, not always. Sometimes its completely fine and relatively smooth. I have Fat model without BC, 80 gb, 2 usb ports Anyone has or had this sort of problem?
Yeah I have this problem all the time with my launch 60gb. I thought it was just me

Not anymore :) I hate it. I dont mind that some pages just make ps3 to freeze in a flash but all other sites should work fine. It seems to me like its somehow related to memory.
I would turn off the JAVA script under the tools option and that will help alot and shouldn't freeze anymore but you won't be able to see some video's on some sites. The PS3 browser is not good, it acts a phone's moble browser. i use it to look up reviews and to read forums post.

Yes, Java helps a bit but then many pages either dont work at all, load up incorrectly or act in an odd ways. I've started to use the browser less because of it. I dont mind its slow but its not exactly stable. I hope they patch the browser sometime.

Atleast we have a browser to start with. And @superlobo that's an overstatement. The PS3 browser is pretty good for the most part but it can be really buggy at times
I have the same problem as well (80 gig back ward compatible model) Also, mine would just freeze at random...it never really mattered how many windows I have open or which site I went to... Some times it would just....stick..... resulting in me having to force-shut my PS3. A quick solution I found to this problem is to give up and rely solely on my laptop lol.

Yup, the freezing at random really bugs me a lot. Especialy when it happens several times in one day... Not vwry often though.
I've had problems with the browser too, I had three windows open it froze for almost 15 mins and finally I gave up and restarted my console, and also I hate the fact you don't get any sound out of Youtube running two windows
Yea-I was writing a comment into facebook on my 120GB 2month old Slim.Entered-or tried to enter the comment and my PS3 totally froze up and had to switch it off by holding main on/off button on console+it beeped 3 times as it shut down.
