I am having real trouble getting online. I have earthlink dsl and I have tried connecting to my router and to the modem directly but no luck. Does anybody out there have earthlink and if you do, is there something I need to do special as far as the network set up goes for the ps3. It seems like most people on this forum just plug and play and it is pissing me off that I can't get online.

I have the same DSL service and had no problem setting the PS3 up. First thing have you set the network up yet because this could be a problem or the service may be having technical problems. I found that when setting the service up I didn't use the Earthlink service instead I opted to by-pass this part and go to Yahoo or Google as a web service (there free to use). If not you may want to call the provider to see if there is another problem.

I had DSL, had a rough time with it. First off, mine had a static IP address, so had to program the router, couldn't just plug and play. Second, i was constantly getting kicked off with "connection interruption". I dumped the DSL and went with the Cable modem and a Netgear N router and have not had a single problem. Literally plugged it in, tested connection and took off.
