I've had a PS3 for about a month now. My TV is a little bit older, but supports HD with a max resolution of 1080i. It has a DVI port in the back, no HDMI, so I hooked the PS3 up with sony's component cables. I have display settings all checked for 480p, 720p, and 1080i. Now the problem: Pretty much all font looks fuzzy/blurry- and I just picked up MLB08: The Show & NCAA09, and those games are blurry as hell, and definitely not running in HD. Also, when selecting at the Display Settings, it says it's running SDTV.

I just need some answers on how to get it to HD, if I should buy a DVI to HDMI cable instead of component. Thanks in advance.

Well first off..Are you sure they r connected into the correct places?

2. Cross filter or something may be an issue..its under display settings

I recommend buying an hdmi to dvi wire. Thats what I did, no problems at all. Great picture. Then I have my sound running through an optical cable through my hometheatre.

Go with the DVI

I found a new problem- In display settings, my tv is still st to Standard (NTSC) and I cant un-check it. Component Cables can deliver HD, right? Any clues how to get past this?

Thanks for the help.

Component cables (red, green and blue) can deliver signals in HD. Composite cables, the ones that come with the PS3, cannot.

Another problem your gonna have is it wont upscale dvds over component. Get a hdmi calbe and then a hdmi to dvi adapter it will look much better.
