im new to this whole HDTV thing, with all the resolutions and numbers, and im about to buy a ps3 but im worried. i have a hitachi s500 series bigscreen, and it says it supports 1080i and 7-whatever-p. if wen i buy the cable, will it scale it down games resolutions like ive been reading? will my games play in high defintion? i dont really plan to use it as a blue ray player. more ova game machine.

it will display your games in HD as long as you have HD cables (HDMI or component)

if your tv supports up to 1080i it will display the game in its highest res possible

Get component cables. Don't get hdmi since your tv only supports 1080i.

I don't see what he shouldn't get an HDMI cable even if his Tv doesn't support 1080P. HDMI is the way to go I believe.
