This has been bugging me for a while now. Ok, the PS3 will be off, and I turn it on with my controller. It will defaul to the second controller, but when I turn on the PS3 first, and then turn on the controller, it becomes the first controller. Anyone know how to fix this?

do you have something else plugged in? Such as a Guitar controller box, those always take precidence over dualshock. If not that, is the controller native to the system? Is it the one that came with the system. Other than that, i have no idea.

Hmm... I have a receiver for a remote, but that's not even in the first USB slot. I'll try taking it out next time.

Try that, I know my ps3 reads my Arcade stick as remote one even if its not pluged into USB 1. Same goes for my rockband junk.

I found that all USB devices (minus keyboards and mice) count as controllers and thus takes up a controller slot.
