I gotta say the PS3 controller is very low quality, probably the worst of any system ever. I dropped it from my sitting position, thats like 3 inches off the ground, and now it's all creaky and loose. I can literally hear it creeak as I squeeze it and not only is it creaking it also bends slightly as the two pieces of plastic shift back and forth in my hand. I've dropped many controls in my days but this is the first to start creaking after just one drop. The controller feels so cheap, I've seen water guns with better worksmanship. In fact I vote to replace the PS3 controller with a water gun all together.

It's not as fragile as it seems.  I thought the same thing at first, but I've hammered on the SIXAXIS like crazy & it hasn't broke or crumbled into pieces or anything.  It's not cheap, it's just lighter because it has no rumble in it.

I agree in a way. It does feel a litle cheaper but it may be because the dual shock parts arent in there to make it a little heavier. Other then that Ive Thrown the freakin thing to the floor a couple of times being in the playoffs of NHL2k7. IT hasnt broke yet

Mine "creaks" too & I've never dropped it, it's just built like that.  Like I said, it would not be easy to break this controller, it just feels light because it doesn't have the rumble component in it.

i think there was a bit more than dropping it involved, but whatever you have to tell people. my brother has dropped his on hard wood floor about 7 times now, and still works fine.

So yours also creaks right, do you see something wrong when a first party official controller creaks when you hold it too tight? Didn't any of the tester notice that the damn controller creaks before releasing it.

haha from 3 inches you liar! common now you have to admit that was a bit of an exageration. i have dropped mine serveral times and it is still good as new. i do have to say that it is way lighter and feels a bit cheaper (prolly cuz there is no rumble in it) but looks are decieving, it keeps a beating and keeps on tickin'!

its plastic, if you squeeze/twist it, it will make noise. jump in any vehicle that has 2 pieces of plastic together, dont care if its a nice one or not(i worked for lexus, toyota and volvo for years) it will squeak, even in $80,000 cars.

dude just quit being OCD, it makes a slight sound cuz they're using a different plastic which makes it lighter. why does this "creaking" bother you so much? it doesn't affect your gameplay or anything, every one of these controllers creaks a tiny bit but no one gives a damn cuz its not important

I honestly don't remember any controller creaking before, I've had a lot of systems. Maybe it's because the controller's too hallow, they should have stuffed it with something or maybe used thicker plastic. The creaking does kinda bothe rme cause I can actually feel the two pieces of plastic shifting back and forth in my hands, this is a first ever. Even my old NES controls didn't do this.

Dude, it's 2 pieces of plastic, of course it's going to give a little bit if you hammer on it.  You're worrying about nothing really & your story about dropping it 3 feet & now it's all whatever is kind of suspect.  The controller might creak a litle bit because of how it is made, but that doesn't make it cheap or subpar.

They all creak. That doesnt mean they are poor quality. I haven't heard of any breaking, and I mistreat mine all the time, I throw it around a lot.

I'm think of putting superglue around the controller like all around the seams in between the plastic to stop the creaking. It could help.

My Ps2 controller and my SG Guitar Hero Controller both creak the same way if pressed on certain points.........i think also every remote controller i have as they're made all of plastic. I wouldn't recomend you to glue it as you will never be able to change the battery when it dies besides voiding the warranty in case it ever has a real problem.

Guys. I have a problem. I whipped out a hammer and went to town on my controller. It's kind of loose all over now. I think it's cheap construction. I was thinking I'd ducttape it back together. Should help with the looseness.

ive dropped many times on tile floor 2 feet. its fine. it just feels light bc the is no rumble, and it feels cheap bc the ps3 itself is incredibly solid!

Hollow Construction leads to Lighter Controller leads to Less Fatigue while playing for long periods of time leads to greater enjoyment of products. Also, makes sixaxis far easier. I can't even imagine trying to shake my dualshock constantly. Sacrifice? If you try to twist the ends of the controller in opposite directions at full force...it may creak a bit. If you dont like the creaking, cough up the 9.99 and play with your dualshock.

I've knocked mine off the coffee table multiple times (sometimes sending it 2 or 3 feet) onto hard linoleum in my basement. I was scared it wouldn't work after several drops, but it's just as solid is it was when I bought it.

Wow, I must say you're all lucky I'm not your parents.  If I would of bought you something like that and you threw it/hit it/bang it/dropped; I would of probably would of beat you with it.  I've never mis-treated my electronics, maybe you people need anger management?

Seriously, I'm not joking; I don't like playing near people that mis-treat their own stuff.  Or when they over react, they are, in all sense.  Lo***s :)

The quality could have been better, I agree the plastic may come apart, but the ps3 is a godlike system that I love, and is much better quality then the 360

I kinda felt the same too...my "X" button is kinda iffy sometimes, and the plastic does seem to "shift" a little at the edges...I'll get pissed if my controller messes up within a year's worth of ownership.

It's not as fragile as it seems. I thought the same thing at first, but I've hammered on the SIXAXIS like crazy & it hasn't broke or crumbled into pieces or anything. It's not cheap, it's just lighter because it has no rumble in it.

if you can snap it in two with your thumb and middle finger of one hand, then its cheap.  if it creaks, as you say, then the screws are loose.

Not necessarily. Plastic...when forcibly contorted...will creak.

Still doesn't explain the creaking

Mine "creaks" too & I've never dropped it, it's just built like that. Like I said, it would not be easy to break this controller, it just feels light because it doesn't have the rumble component in it.

So yours also creaks right, do you see something wrong when a first party official controller creaks when you hold it too tight? Didn't any of the tester notice that the damn controller creaks before releasing it.

its plastic, if you squeeze/twist it, it will make noise. jump in any vehicle that has 2 pieces of plastic together, dont care if its a nice one or not(i worked for lexus, toyota and volvo for years) it will squeak, even in $80,000 cars.

Exactly, and I'll even go so far as to say the outer casing is of better quality of the PS2 controller, possibly. I chucked by controller as hard as I could after some frustrating VF 5 (I only did this because I have two), and it didn't completely break apart into two pieces, it majorly cracked. I threw a dualshock2 at about the same strength against the same floor several months ago, and I'm still finding pieces of the casing. Also, that is probably partially due to the added weight of the controller's internal parts.

I've done the same thing about 6 times now and nothing has happened.  Are you sure you're talking about a Sony brand PS3 controller?
