i was planning on playing metal gear solid. when i flip on the switch, there was a steady green light with loud blower sound then flashing red light. no yellow light. is my ps3 toasted? any of you guys know how to fix it? i wanna fix it on my own. avangoCALL SONY GEEZ -_- think people would already of learned the lesson that if you don't know whats going on with it call Sony, if you don't know their number check their site for contacts, another great idea is to google it or yahoo answer it before hand to find out if others are having similar troubles
WOW a Level 1 with 1 post.......... hmmmmmmmmmmmm i am guessing TROLLEpiphoneMan2008Why are you assuming he is a troll? He probably just set up his account to ask a question. And since that's probably the case then give him a break for being new to GameSpot.... As for the your problem TC, just keep trying to get it to turn out. Hold down the power button and try to get your system to restart. If nothing works then it might need repaired and you'll probably have to call Sony.

Anyways, call sony. When the light turns yellow, that's when you really have problems.

TC do what the other said about calling Sony..they are the expert on this matter.

I'm waiting for it to return right now.
It seems like nothing has changed since my absence from the boards. I mean we still have people accusing people of being trolls without proof & people fighting amongst themselves. (Sigh) Where are the ol days when these threads were original, there were few fights & topics actually made sense?
Well you are a level 1 which makes people think you troll and made a new account. But really PS3s don't break but very rarely unless you don't take care of them or you mess with them in a way you shouldn't. But really when something breaks who are we people on here to know how to fix it, OK? I mean that's what the companies that make them are there for and warranties. Call Sony at their support number found on www.us.playstation.com
Are you criticizing the GameSpot users? TROLL! /sarcasmIt seems like nothing has changed since my absence from the boards. So what level and how many posts do you need to be considered not a troll? If you have anything to contribute to this thread, then don't post. Its as simple as that.
sorry, but i believe your console has had it. the same exact thing occured to me and customer service said it is the mother board that experience permanant damage due to possible over heating or something similar. I'm waiting for it to return right now. even without the yellow light, would it still indicate motherboard damage? geee. but it doesn't affect my hard disk right? btw, i've known two of my friends had problems with overheating also.too bad the cooling system is not that good.Benny_Blakk
