PS3 defect rate question (buying one in 3 days)

Hey guys, any of you doods experience problems with the PS3 as of late? I'm gonna buy one in a few days and I would really appreciate it if you people would tell about your PS3 problems and what happened. Also, it would be great if you could list down what region your PS3 came from wether it was; US, Asian or japanese.

I know the defects haven't been aswide spread as the 360 ones, but still, I live in the Philippines and stores only have 1 week warranties. So I hope you understand my paranoia. The PS3 is a pretty huge investment for me. 

i dont know the rate but there build very good ive barely heard of any thing breaking or anything mine works fine righ tout of the box but if it makes you feel better it comes with a 1 year sony warrenty so you can send it back free for a new one or get a 2 year 50$ warrenty at the store your gonna buy it at and just take it back if any thing is wrong

but nothing is wrong with the ps3 never heard of any Major probs only thing i heard is that it freezes once and never again but that never happend to me

hmm im sure that the ps3 will not break overheat etc might have small probs where you can just reset the ps3 but i doubt that to its very well made just look it over when you get it out of the box make sure its all good and test it out 

Hmmm, and just to make thigns clear: I'm getting a PS3, its only a matter of time if I decide to wait for some better hardware feedback. The reason I'm getting a PS3 are FFXIII and MGS4. I just hope that if I do decide to buy one this saturday, that it will last 'till next year.Vicious-sama

o trust me it will last with Resistence and motorstorm and oblivion if you dont have it on 360 that will keep ya playing for a while!

It doesn't matter what country you are in, Sony protects their products for up to a year. The only problem is that if it does break, you have to send it to Sony, instead of taking it back to the store. In the US, we do not have any kind of in-store warranty at all, unless we pay around 20% of the value of the product on top of the retail price. Having a week is just as good as the US.

The first PS3 I bought was missing a cable but the one that I got when I exchanged the first one works great. My girlfriend works at Target and she said that the one I returned was the only defective one since they came out.bbgunbilly

what cable was it missing just so you know the ps3 doesnt come with componet or hdmi cable lol :D
