Hello, i'm really considering to buy a PS3 in the near future, and i have this question about downloading :

When downloading a demo / firmware update / game etc. via PSN, are the downloads pausable and resumable, or they have to happen in a row ?

Furthermore, if, for some reason, the machine is abruptly turned off during download, is the download resumable too in this case ?

Cheers.

Game and demos are resumable. I think Firmware download is resumable too...but not sure. Just don't turn off PS3 while you are installing a new update. It screws the system.

Of course I will not. But i do live in the middle east, where average connection speeds are 128-256K, so it will take more than one session to finish an average 700 mb game demo.

And sometimes electricity is unstable so it just deconnects. I guess i'll solve this by plugging my (future) PS3 to a UPS.

Thanks for answering btw, and if someone can confirm whether firmware updates are resumable, that'd be great.

Cheers.

Not sure but I don't think firmware can be resumed. You cant send it to the background downloading menu like demos so I think its a little different. But they are pretty quick, they take less than 5 minutes for me to download.
