When I download a game or movie, it takes about 20-30 mins (movie) and 10-15 min (DLC, demo, or game)

but lately my downloading stream has been taking A LONG TIME. . . Is this my connection ? Is it because It's been on

24/7 ? do I need to turn it off for a little while or somethin ?

i personally believ that psn servers arent that stable. my internet speed is 50mb down and 5mb up and my download speeds off of psn are all over the place. i can download between 9-10 gigs on steam an hourand 6-8 gigs on live an hour. but when it comes to psn its anywhere from 3-5 gigs an hour. i downloaded r&c quest for booty which is 2.6 gigs in 9 minutes 1 day off psn then the next i cant download more than 2-3 gigs an hour. i dont get it my internet is fast!! in the end i think its just sonys servers arent as reliable. even though psn downloads arent as fast as the others it is my most used gaming console. my online games play just as good as the others and thats all that matters to me.

On PSN the best I get is about 1MBPS, but if I use the PS3 for Netflix or MLBTV, I keep a steady 3 to 5 MBPS, so as has been said it's not your PS3 or ISP, just the PSN.

It's more than likely the PSN servers. Always slow for me.

I get 20 download and PSN never really utilizes a 1/4th of it. Downloads are good but still slower than I want. I pay for 20, I should get 20.

I have noticed this to. At first they were downloading extremely fast now downlaods on my ps3 are taking hours longer.

Everything is still fast on my pc and 360 so it might be something with the servers.

Ever since the update, on June 27th it's been slow. Mine usually downloads pretty quickly, but it has been crawling since the update. I thought for sure it was because everyone was trying to download Madden, just like me!

Actually, you pay for 20 to your ISP not SONY and they have no obligatigation to maximise your download speed.

Oh, and to add - I guess I'm lucky? Pretty damn fast speeds. With Virgin Media, 50mb. Downloaded Burnout Paradise in about an hour + updates so that wasnt bad. Everything else takes ~10 mins. COD maps take a while longer but thats just traffic.

I know. That's common sense. With steam I get the connection I pay for. Why can't sony deliver?

Took me about 20 minutes to download Burnout. I agree the speed isn't up to par, but for me it's acceptable (I just play a ps1 game while I wait, and usually I get so far I often continue after the download) but when downloading updates it takes to long (it took me a half hour to download 1 gig of updates on Burnout wtf?!?)

Even with all the required ports forwarded, I find that downloads on both my 360 and my PS3 are equally slooooooow. But speeds on my PC are fine, of course.

Go to your network settings and run the connection test. It will tell you your download/upload speed with PSN. It might be your connection though. A 500MB demo or something usually only takes me about 10 minutes to download and my internet isn't even that great

Personally, my internet connection runs about 20MB/sec, and when I run the test for the PS3 it says the PS3 connection speed is 5MB/sec down, 1MB/sec up. Yet when I go to download a demo or whatever, it never even approaches those speeds. Maybe like 0.5 MB/sec on a good day.

Same here, I downloaded the whole Orange Box almost 9Gb on my PC in an hour but the ps3 has to be at 500kb a sec.

I doubt that its Sony's severs. I'm able to download a 1 gig demo in less than 7 minutes and countless of other games in the same amount of time.

Thats strange, my internet runs about the same as yours and I get about 10 MB/sec download and 2.2 MB/sec uploads. Maybe its your router?

Here's for speeds for my laptop

Believe it or not I've tried bypassing the router and just going straight from the wall to the PS3. No change. And as I said, I've forwarded every port for PSN that Sony support says you should forward if you're having issues.

My PS3 Wifi is trash, and both my PS3 and modem are in my room so I know it's the wifi. Especially since I just bought the new 360S and the wifi gives me no trouble streaming or downloading, while the PS3 does.

It is what it is though, the service is free...maybe that's why.

It isn't bad enough to use the ethernet cord though...yet that is.

I noticed it has got slower after the 3.41 update as well. Before the update it would take me30 minutes to download a 1200MB demo. Now when I tried a 900MB it said it'll take 75 minutes. PSN is pretty slow in the first place compared to my PC but it's got worse lately.
