Anyone know how to fix PS3 downloads that take mutiple hours to complete if so please tell because it used to only take 20-30 minutes to download stuff not its taking like almost a half a day for just a demo or something of the sort
Your net speed has dropped. I would suggest you google up "internet speed test" and find out from there. There are multiple sites for this where you can find one in your city, or pretty close to your city. But yeah, it's your connection.
I remember a few years ago I had some terrible speed and I called up my cable company to find out why and told them that I'm a gamer, they gave me a faster connection and a different modem and have been fine since then. So, point being, that could be a possible for you aswell.
eh ya gana have to elaborate on that. but i just got cable and a new router, and it seems ever since the new router PS3 has been slow as hell download wise it took like 5 hours to download the force unleashed demo. the other mystery is why is it jsut PS3 cause i got a 360 and its downloading very fast only took like 10 min for the unleashed deom to download to 360

No, you said "ever since I got my router" hence, it's the router. You have to open a port to allow your router think the PS3 is safe. How to do it and what the number is? Sorry I can't tell you because I don't know myself. My PS3 has always been a direct connect to the modem.
mine is 3947kb/s for download and 930kb/s for upload. i have the exact same problem. live is nice and speedy while psn is slow. if u figure out how to fix it let us know.
lol ok well to answer the open a port connection denji made im not so sure thats it i have NAT type 2 and connection is 100% i mean the routers right next to the PS3 ive even tried using the ethernet connect way but same old slow crap and before i got new router is was NAT 3 the problem with that was i could connect to games alot more easier but downloads were alot faster ironic is it not since NAT two is to help your PS3 connect to other units or w/e faster
oops i messed up on that last part i meant to say when i had NAT 3 it was hard to connect too games never really would let me in GTA or to my friends in COD4 but the downloads were fastish like10-20 mins now since i have had NAT2 with new router i can conncet to about any game but downloads are just ridiculous when i downloaded and E3 press conference it literally took 10 hours just for part one
wo i jsut foundnsomething out when i di internet connect test on PS3 everything ahd succeeded and got NAT 2 but then it says at the bottom "The router in use may not support IP fragments, and the communication fetures of some games may be restricted for details, contact the router manufactuer".
man this is just annoying now the message is gone now i dont see any connection errors with PS3 it actually improved from NAT 2 to NAT 3 but the only annyoing thing is that downloads are just ridiculously slow and i dont see any problems when testing connection or looking at my connection speed i know some one with exact same hard ware linksys router same modem and their stuff works fine so im just goin on record saying im stumped wish some one had an answer like " o that problem thats easy just do thi sthis and this" o well
i had the same problem too but i found out last year that if i change my Nat Type from 2 to 3, it downloads 60% faster. I had to open some ports on my router.
wow so your telling me i have to make it crappier to make the downloads faster but then i wont be able to get into games that easly now god im really starting to hate this PS3

ok what ports do i open then i dont see why i would have to i mean its NAT 2 the ports shouldnt be the probelm
well i give up i tryed doing ports i tryed DMZ i tryed NAT 3 that happended to work but faster DLs was not worth the crappy game connections i also tryed static IP then ports still nothing. and i really dont see where people get the idea with these port things anyway everyone whos had crappy connection that ive talked to IRL or on games said the port trick never worked anyway i have cable provider and earthlink ISP, i dont think it matters what my ISP or cable provider is because my xbox DLs way fast but i lagg in halo tremendasly so im FCKing stumped. Worst part is seems no one knows the answer and i dont got enough spending money to ship my PS3 back to sony so they can trouble shoot and probbly fail. Wish these dumb consoles did'nt have to be spoiled with god like internet to work perfectly online.
