When i insert a disk into the ps3, the icon does not come up on the screen, meaning i cant play any games effectively. Is there a fix for this? Please tell me there is as Ive just bought gta 4!!!

call sony..get your replacement if its under warranty and be quick about it so you can play gta4 :D
I've had my PS3 since they were first released, and never had any problems until about a week ago. Now I'm having the exact same problem as you. I put a disc in, the little scanning icon comes up in the upper-right corner of the screen --sometimes for a really long time, then ... nothing. No disc icon in the PS3 menu. Have you figured out what's going on yet? I don't want to have to go out and buy a new PS3 so soon.
yeah i had to send mine off to get a replacement ps3. it came in like 4 days i think so not too long to wait, and its just bad luck on our part that our ps3's were affected in the first place.
