Hi, I've seen a good deal on eBay for a PS3 that has been only used for 6 hours. The guy says his son doesn't want it anymore cause the 360 seems better . Anyway, is it wise to bid on a console on eBay? Anyone done this? Any tips on bidding?

Also, on a side note, if I do get the PS3, will I be able to delete the PSN username and settings and start from scratch?

It is usually not wise to buy from Ebay. I suggest you look at the sellers history and see if he has good ratings. Good for me is 90% or above. I think you can reformat the PS3 itself to effectively erase everything, I'm not 100% sure about that though.

If the poster has a lot of feedback then i would say it's good. Also make sure you use paypal. Once you are using paypal it is safe as long as the person is verified by paypal. if they screw you then you can get your money back.

So how exactly does paypal work? I understand what you said, but how do you use it when bidding?

Exactly ^^. Thats why i'm using ebay to sell my 360. Also remember that Ebay has buyers protection. See the help desk if you don't know about it.

I heard it is wise to have the PS3 have his username and receiptin the picture when bidding for the item. Any other tips or rules of thumb?

Paypal is easy to use. You set up the account and tie it in to either a credit card or a bank account. You still bid as normal on eBay and if you win you will have a Pay Now button on the page. Just go there, log in to paypal and the total payment including shipping should be shown. Hit the pay button and you are done. Paypal will send the shipping address to the seller wth the notice of payment. The only people that will see your banking info is paypal themselves- the seler just sees payment from the e-mail address you use to sign up.

The usual rules of thumb apply- check a seller's history on the site and feedback, look for an actual picture of the item instead of stock photos, feel free to ask the seller about anything you may not be sure of. The good ones will usually reply back somewhat quickly.

Thats exactly what I'm doing :D. There feedback is 100% and each of them has 27 and 42 sales with good feedback. The pictures look like they were taking at home, one of them is the same picture he uses when he sells other PS3's though. The only problem is that I hear you have your SN somewhere visible on the PS3 and a receipt in order for it to be a good deal, but they don't. I've contacted them about that, if they can send a pic with the reciept and SN, but no reply :(. Hopefully they do because they are both great deals (both 60 gigs) and one of them is a great bundle that is inexpensive (below $500,), so I'm really excited but also weary of bidding for them.
